| Now OP, you should learn to chill. Stuff happens. |
You mean driving an hour to play in 45F weather and rain? Yeah, wonder what happened. |
| I don't know about that team specifically but for the SAC tournament some teams were driving more than two hours and the rains were terrible. I wouldn't blame them if they couldn't make it. |
| There was a forfeit during the final in the Virginian 06. BRYC coach and assistant got reds, had to leave the field. The team played on without a coach, down 1-2, but a few minutes later they forfeited halfway through second half. Very odd. |
That’s appalling by the coaches. Coaches never have an excuse to get carded. Never. |
One of the opposing coaches at our game on Saturday got thrown out for yelling at the refs about not calling penalties. There are a couple players on our team who play dirty (yes, I admit it, - I really dislike the kids and their parents), the refs weren’t calling any penalties on them, and one of them knocked the opposing team’s goalie out of the game in the first half with a dirty hit after the goalie had possession. There were no penalties called on that play, or when the same two players blatantly tripped their players, or the multiple times they slammed into the other team’s striker in the box as he as about to take a shot. Obviously I didn’t say anything at the field, but I admired the coach for taking a stand and agreed with what he said to the refs. We’re leaving the club after this season because I’m so disappointed in the integrity of our coaches in not stopping what was happening on the field. We won the game, but I was really embarrassed to be associated with it. |
| Multiple ill/injured kids, coach has emergency, miscommunication about which field (it happens), many possible reasons other than lack of courtesy. |
Good for you! I have seen syc younger teams play like this (much more mellow) but could see it escalating as they get older. Our refs called the boys even for raising their arms too much and slightly pushing. To bad some refs allow that rough of play. |
What led up to both coaches getting red cards? |
I think you mean the ref was not calling FOULS not PENALTIES. A player hits the goalie when the goalie has possession, it's a foul. Not a penalty. |
Good for you for leaving. Are you Aspen Hill (the team BRYC forfeited against) or another club? |
DP. I think we all understood what the previous poster was saying. There is no need to be snide and pedantic. |
|
I hope they called the coach afterward to apologize, OP. Emergencies happen, but it's always de rigueur to say sorry as soon as you can. |
I'm not 100% as my kid had next game on the field. From what I saw a player on the opposing team took a high kick to the head, penalty called. Ref called for a tournament trainer. BRYC coach got into an argument with the ref, words exchanged, red card to coach, assistant said something, red for him. I think the argument was that opposing team was wasting time. Trainer walked the injured kid across the field (he looked pretty out of it to me), play resumed, went on for a bit and then some tournament folks came on and called the forfeit. |
Yeah that seemed to be the gist of it. If the game started on time then probably 15-20 left, if it started late then more. One point game, both teams looked like they were getting chances, so way too early to start wasting time. And again, saw the kid walk across the field with the trainer to go to the tent, he didn't look good. Most kids who fake an injury slow walk to the bench then are back in 5 mins later, they don't go to the tent with the trainer. |
