In fact, I love what I do.

I do document review .

That's not what people mean when they say e-discovery. That's just doc review.

And why do you assume compliance means $40k a year. Entry level is higher and has a far better upward trajectory than doc review.

So for anyone who knows, what exactly is compliance. What types are there? What is the job like? How difficult is to get a job? Do the jobs tend to have job security? Pay?

There is no more of a dead end job than a document review attorney. What a mistake to go that route. How did you fall into it in the first place? Did you strike out of other jobs after graduating? How long have you been out of law school?

about 18 years. No luck finding jobs in law school and after. I realize this about doc review. I’m asking how I get out and into compliance or something else

Would you consider putting out a shingle rather then try to get a job with another company?

Honestly, you need to re-tool completely. Act as if you don't even have a law degree, because for all practical purposes when it comes to future employment opportunities you don't. At this point it's as if you never went to law school.

I hate to sound harsh, but it's the truth. I have intimate knowledge of what your job entailed. Doing it for a couple of years is potentially ok -- you can dig yourself out of it into something at least law related. But doing it for as long as you have is a career killer. I'm sorry.

OP is, for all practical purposes, not a lawyer.

My uncle transitioned into law library research work he didn’t have the personality for attorney. Is that feasible? Maybe you could try one of the the shorter library cert part time programs.

OP, I remember you. What have you been doing since the last time you asked for advice on this board? Did you take any of the advice given then?

I think ir have to go back to school for that. I’ve already spent 250k on my education . Probably would be a better field for me but I just can’t go into more debt

I don’t think you know me. What advice? I’ve applied for about 3 federal jobs each week for the past two years. Have gotten nothing
