OP here:
Here is another example of what a daily log could look like for me, using meals I often eat (what I gave earlier were also meals that are in heavy rotation, but here are more). Perhaps these are better! Breakfast: 2 scram eggs, 1/2 cup roasted sweet potato, spinach sauteed in garlic and 1 tsp EVOO Lunch: miso soup w bok choy, sugar snaps, mushrooms, tofu, brown rice noodles snack: veggie plate + dip made with fat free greek yog dinner: chicken + brown rice + broccoli |
Oh, PP, good catch. |
| OP here. On Prozac for half the month, but that's not new. I just got the Mirena 2 weeks ago, and for 5 months before that, I was on norethindrone orally. |
This one is so much better. Stick to similar ones. PS read about all the meds changes - well, watch out for couple more weeks (without banana and strip for breakfast ) and talk to your doctors. Meds combos could do give you all sorts of strange effects on your weight
|
| It may be Mirena. Anytime you change birth control, hormones can cause weight fluctuations. |
| Pps make good points. I also want to point out that as you lose weight your calorie requirements decrease. You need fewer calories to sustain a 145 lb weight than you need to sustain 160 lbs, for example. |
| 42-45 is a prime age for a metabolism slow down. WW could exacerbate the slowing. Increase activity level while also slightly increasing calorie intake. |
|
You're not gaining a pound a week because of fruit and whole wheat pasta. '
All this criticism of your perfectly fine diet is missing the larger point--this isn't about losing weight at this point. If you are eating less and better than before, then you shouldn't be gaining. Now, weight can fluctuate with water, the mirena, your prozac, some combination, so consider those things. But I would schedule a physical, have the basic blood work done and see if there is anything going down. |
This is such BS. Your metabolism doesn't slow down overnight. It can decrease with time due to being less active and losing muscle mass, but it doesn't just come to a screeching halt. Op forget points. Count your calories. Report back on your height, weight and calories you are consuming I assume you are weighing and measuring everything? I assume you are sticking to your calories 7 days a week/not going over or binging at all? Have you really been at least 90% consistent? If you have truly been eating in a deficit then I would go see a doctor to get your hormone checked. |
| Take a test, OP! |
| OP here. I"m up 1.5 lb from last week when I posted this. I have a doc appointment next week, and I took pregnancy tests, and those are negative (thank goodness). Something is up, since I'm moving more and eating well. |
Check your thyroid functioning. Hypothyroid can lead to weight gain. |
|
OP, how tall are you? Are you weighing your food and counting calories? Bc you could be eating the healthiest food on earth and still gain weight if you are eating more calories than you burn.
I suggest keeping a food diary and be honest. Everything that goes in your mouth goes in the diary. Every tablespoon of oil you use in cooking, every coffee drink, etc. You would be surprised how easy it is to undercount calories. |
OP here. Yes! I'm doing WW, and I have been since Jan. I weigh everything. I count it all. I was losing for a bit (lost 5 lbs) and now have gained that all back and more in teh past 8 weeks despite staying within (or below) my points, exercising much more than I normally have, and having a much better diet. My clothes aren't tighter, but the scale continues to go up. Like I said, I gained over a lb in teh last 5 days. It is higher today than when I began WW in January, after months of eating my weight in cookies. I am 5'7. |
| I'm not sure how WW measures food, but can you weight items instead of using cups? You will be more accurate and consistent, and may find extra calories that way that you weren't aware of that you were consuming. |
