| Mine sleeps until 1 on the weekends and no, I don’t care. I can’t figure out why you all are waking your teen up at 8:30 up if you have no where to go. Have you never read a teen sleep study? |
|
Teens going to bed at 11’and up at 6:30-7 aren’t getting enough sleep.
We only wake if there is a sport or other reason. On sundays he can sleep til whenever (although it’s mostly not past 11). |
| No. Unless there was a specific reason. They didn’t have bedtimes as teens either. |
But what about the teen going to bed at 9pm and sleeping until 1pm? That doesn't seem right either. |
yes, no sleep study will tell you that it's a good idea for teens to sleep 12+ hours until 1pm in an effort to "catch up on their sleep." this just exacerbates their delayed sleep and furthers an inconsistent nightly rest... I guess we could ask the same of you - have YOU never read a teen sleep study?
Here's a good one from Harvard to get you started: https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/why-sleeping-in-on-weekends-isnt-good-for-teens-201301115763 |
| I do not allow them to sleep past 11. |
| Nope. They can sleep as late as they want. My oldest is now in medical school. |
It's better than my mother waking me up at 7 am on Saturday and Sundays, forcing me to jog even in the rain in order to avoid becoming obese. |
| If I grew 4 inches a year for years on end, I'd need to sleep like my son sleeps. |
|
Yes. There is absolutely no reason a kid should be regularly sleeping in on the weekend 3 hours past their regular weekday wake up time.
If they are, it’s unhealthy and lifestyle change needs to happen. |
| Up by 10:45 on Saturdays to make an art class and Sunday I don’t care. He is usually up by noon. |
| The weekend is to catch up on sleep. Let her sleep until 11 or 1130. She needs it. |
|
He's never woken up later than 11am, and that's fine by me because he has sleep apnea and ADHD, which give him sleep issues. The more sleep he gets, the better. |
|
No too much but she's usually up by 10/11 anyway. If she needs it, I let her sleep.
I was a laaaaaaaaate sleeper as a teen and even as an adult. If I can get away with it on a weekend, you won't see me before 10. I'm a productive member of society, work FT, etc. |
| Absolutely--by 11:00 AM so they are up and able to enjoy the day. |
