Do you care what time your teen wakes up on weekends?

My son was always an early riser until this year. What do you do?

I want them up by 1pm

Up by noon, sometimes 1:00pm as a treat. DC clearly needs it and is usually asleep by 9:00pm.

Only if he has something he has to go to - usually baseball. I'll wake him up 1 hour before he has to be out the door. Otherwise, no, he's on his own schedule. DS is 16.

If they do not need to be anywhere, then no.
I slept late on weekends in HS and grew up to be a happy, productive member of society. They can do the same.

I wake them up by 9, because during the regular week they get up around 6:30 or 7.

It’s not good for him to be sleeping in 4-5 hours later than they normally wake up.

Also, they will have trouble falling asleep if they wake up too late. Mine need to go to sleep by 11 or max 11:30 on weekends.

I wake him up 45min to an hour before he has to go anywhere, depending on how early it it. Otherwise I knock on the door around noon. If I don’t he gets totally off for the week.

Yes, we wake them at about the same time every day, between 8:30-9:30.

Yes, I wake them up by 11 if they're not already up. Usually they get up by 9ish on the weekends on their own. But if they're not...11 is the absolute latest.

My mom used to wake me up by 9am playing a bugle. It's seriously one of my worst memories of her and pisses me off to this day. She had this policy even on the summers I spent at her house while I was in college. I was always a good daughter, student and did all the chores she wanted, so it was ridiculous that I couldn't sleep in on the weekend. In high school, I had to be at the bus stop at 5:55 am and always felt sleep deprived no matter what I did.

No. He needs his sleep. He's almost 6' tall.

OP here. Thanks everyone. 19:13, that bugle sounds just awful.

I wake mine up at 11 am to give him his medication. Sometimes he gets up then by sometimes not. If he doesn't get up by 1 pm, I make him get up.

Yes, bc we have early sports, every weekend day.

Only if it’s extreme. I think once or twice I’ve gotten him up if it’s after 12-1ish because I don’t want him unable to get to bed that night and have next day totally off. Otherwise no I don’t care.
