So now this is just the APS forum?

If Jeff finds the traffic supports it, that's his decision.

That's not really how Jeff decides. If you look at some of the newer forums, they just don't have much traffic. Traffic isn't a deciding issue, one way or the other.

I don't like the split. If enough of us ask Jeff to undo the split and merge the Nova Schools Forum, he'll consider it.

I fail to see how this affects you in any way. Just read "recent topics" where they're all merged in (except explicit and politics). All a separate forum is is a tagging schema to help people focus in on what they're interested in.

I'm interested in the school issues that affect the Nova school districts, including the one my kids are in and the ones my friends' kids are in. Like OP, I feel fenced into one forum or the other, even though there are plenty of broad issues that could be discussed by parents in all of the school districts.

I’m in aps and glad for the split. Used to be that every time you asked a question about aps there would inevitably be a poster saying that aps sucks and fairfax is so much better. That and people would respond to aps questions with fairfax specific things (like what hybrid/concurrent looks like there). Might be better to merge lcps into the fcps board if you think that makes sense (I can see that personally). Either that or maybe break Arlington and Alexandria into it’s own board. I personally am glad to not see all the braband sucks threads anymore.

If it's really universal, put it in the general education forums. Again, most people read from "recent topics" and notice the headlines first.

Since you only read Recent Topics, I guess you aren't aware how different the issues are in the DCPS Schools forum or the MoCo Schools forum (or the not very active Rest of MD Schools forum). In that case, your response is unhelpful.

At least now people are posting their school system in the topic. It’s also been nice not to have FCPS folks post on other counties threads with a completely different circumstance, only to post later to say oh I’m at FCPS.

It’s been great.

Yes. Removing Fairfax has helped us all.

Yes, the FCPS posters were terrible about labeling their posts. They just assumed everyone knew it was FCPS related.

And they also assumed the non-FCPS posts were FCPS.

Some more broad topics that apply to all get funneled to FCPS but I will be 100% honest, going there and choosing to interact sparingly but not constantly having every thread taken over by mean and nasty FCPS parents is nice.

No, I still see the titles of all the posts, and I click on interesting ones regardless of the school district. I just don’t throw in my two cents if it’s something MCPS or DCPS specific.

Seems to me that it was APS that should have split off, instead of FCPS.

No. It’s totally subjective and I feel the board is worse for the split.

Seems like an APS-specific forum would make sense, really.

Looks like you’re in the minority.

And yet the person who has the most data about traffic in this forum and how people use it thought otherwise.

The decision to split Nova wasn't made because of traffic. It was made purely by request -- and was very split.
