99th percentile kids

My oldest two boys dropped from 99th to 75th around 3/4. They both seem “tall” compared to their peers, but nothing too noticeable. Our almost two year old girl appears to be a giant! I hope it slows down for her. I’m 5’3 and my husband is 6’2. I would love for her to be taller than I am, but I’d prefer she isn’t overly tall!

Mine started at 75-80th percentile, then jumped up to 95-98th between 2.5-3 years old. Still there at age 5. Dad is 6’2” and I’m 5’6”, but have tall extended relatives.

DD has been in the 99th percentile since birth. She is 4 now and is the size of a 6yo. I am curious how tall she’ll be. I am 5’7”, DH is 6’2”.

Older DS has been off the charts for height for all 6 years of his life. DH is 6’5 so it seems he will take after his dad.

I can’t speak to boys - but for girls, much is impacted by when they start their periods. My girls were off the charts - but started their periods around age 12. Typically, you grow only about two more inches once you start your period. I am now thinking they will end up shorter than me (5’ 8).

I was the tallest/longest baby that any doctors ever saw at birth! When I was born that is. I am a paltry 5'4' now.

His big sister was 99th up until she was 2 or 3, then dropped to the low 90s and stands out as tall for her age. My DH and I expect they will both pass us in height (I am 5’8” and DH is 6ft). We have height on both sides (6’4”+ men and my aunt is almost 6 ft). I’m guessing DD hits 5’9 or 10 and DS clears 6’ 2”

How big was your DS at 1? I am OP. I can’t believe how big my DS is. His growth seems exponentially faster than his sisters.

He was 33.5” at 1! I think around 25 lbs. his growth has been faster than his sis who was a chunkier baby for longer... I think he literally ran out of room when I was pregnant because he grew exponentially in his first 2 weeks (he was 22”). They even sent the pediatrician back in to measure him again, thinking there was no way he was that big. He eats like a horse most of the time and we are rethinking our kitchen remodel plans to account for a bigger fridge. Maybe I should start a go fund me for our teenage food budgets

My 11 year old dad is now 95th after having always been 99%

DS has always been 99th percentile for height at at 13 now is over 6’. He’s predicted to be 6’5 at least.

I don’t know if it’s true or not but our pediatrician told us that it doesn’t go higher than 99th and all tall kids fall into that category with a very wide margin.

Overly tall? Like 6’ (my height)?

Yes, the PP was talking about you.

My daughter was 99% until about age 3 and then slowly started dropping. She recently turned 11 and was 75%. She has shown absolutely no signs of starting puberty yet, so I expect she still has a lot of growing to do.

He is by far the biggest 1 year old I have ever seen. I just wonder if this will stay the course or he will slowly drop off the highest percentile. DH is 5’10” and I am 5’7” but we have tall family members.

Not even close! Mine was 99th percentile height and weight until 2. Dropped off at pretty significantly at 3 and a little more at 4. At almost 11, he is in the 45th percentile for height and 30th for weight. We are similar height to you and your DH. Height percentile as stayed the same since age 4. He was in a higher weight percentile and that dropped more slowly up through age 8.

My DD was 99% height and weight from about 6m-3y. Now at 4 she's closer to 95% I think. She definitely stands out among her peers.

They slow down. DD was always wearing 2 to 3 sizes bigger than her age. Now she's 5 and wearing size 6 clothes comfortably. DS is 13 months old and wearing 2T clothes. He's 95% for height and 75th for weight.
