Eggs daily: heathy or not

Anonymous
From this and other threads I'm getting the sense that there are a few politically-motivated militant action vegans around. I see odd scientific claims made whenever someone talks about meat, carnivore or keto diets, and now dairy products. Your dietary cholesterol has very little impact on how much cholesterol is in your blood. Free range eggs are excellent for you. Factory farmed eggs like all factory farmed products will carry with them whatever crap the factory uses.

If you want something non-anecdotal:

In what preparation do you eat them?

Omelets, scramble, hard boiled for salads ..

What do you use for the first two? Butter? Cooking spray? Canola oil? Olive oil? Dry non-stick pan?

A little bit of olive oil. Sometimes butter for the scramble.

The problem with eggs is the saturated fat in the yolk.

The whites are great. The yolks are not. Be sparing on yolks and feel free to have egg whites every day.

Pretty much all the good stuff eggs contain is in the yolk. Egg whites are just protein. Please don’t throw away the more nutritious part of the egg.

There is like 1.5 grams of saturated fat in an egg yolk..

The whole eat fat/get fat eat cholesterol/get high cholesterol is an outdated concept based on faulty science - interestingly, largely funded by the sugar industry.

Science. Dispassionate, apolitical science. PETA has nothing to do with it

I have no idea, but I eat them often. But, I am pp that moved back to Canada and OMG eggs, the cheapest eggs in the local store are insane! In MD even with Nick's pasture-raised eggs I never got that fluff in scrambled eggs. I don't use milk in them here or there. The cheapest eggs here, are fluffy, voluminous, and awesome! It is like night and day! My teens thought I was making them two eggs or more and it was just one egg!

LOL! The only militant diet proponent on dcum is the insane Jason Fung disciple who thinks keto and IF is the one to rule them all!

+1

My grandfather ate a diet that would make a cardiologist cry -- lots of red meat, tons of fried food, butter on everything. Neither he nor any of his six children have ever had high cholesterol.

Also, most foods that are high in cholesterol are also high in saturated fats. Exceptions include eggs and shrimp. And eggs are nutritional powerhouses.

All four of my grandparents ate diets we would balk at (eggs, butter, red meat, fried shrimp) and they all lived into their 90s without any major health issues. They didn’t eat any processed crap or food full of sugar. This was also pre-Montsano so their food was not covered in Round Up.

OP here. I'm a pescatarian, but I only eat fish a couple times per week, not daily. I do enjoy greek yogurt and eggs though and consider them main sources of protein (along with beans/legumes). I don't care for tofu or protein powders so I struggle to get enough protein.

I am not overweight or trying to lose weight, I just want to do the best I can to not cause an medical problems down the road.
