Moderate Dem here - can we prioritize?

Sorry I wasn't alive in 1918 but as far as I recall no other administration has come in the past 100 years with a death toll of 300,000+ Americans from a pandemic + 10% of the working population unemployed.

This. Get it together people. Focus.

Apparently considering the House just had to pass a one-week Continuing Resolution before the entire federal government shuts down - WE CAN'T.

F**king fund our government and pass the damned relief bill, then play with the other stuff.

Thanks, GOP obstructionists...

Yes, that’s who is to blame. They have the power, make them govern and make them own their shitty policies. But stalemate is unacceptable.

I'm a moderate Dem too, and climate change is absolutely an urgent priority. I agree with this idea - DO EVERYTHING AT ONCE. No matter what Biden does, the GOP and the right-wing mediasphere will twist it and make it into something bad. Look what they've done to efforts to mitigate and fight Covid.

The only thing Biden will have real control over is his administration and what it does. And his North Star, his organizing principle, should be doing as much good on as many fronts as fast as possible. Blitz.

Can we get the basics done first? Relief aid for Americans is and should be the priority. Killing off the Covid-19 pandemic + distributing 330 million vaccine doses should be the priority.

Not this.

I agree that prioritizing COVID as number one is the right thing to do, but appointing a climate czar and undoing DACA aren't actions that take time away from COVID. Biden has to get things in place fast. On climate, you want to be able to ask the GOP on the defensive as well as achieve something. Putting someone as experienced as John Kerry in that role isn't going to detract from COVID relief.

Well...I think Biden's campaigning message throughout the pandemic was to get the country back on course in terms of COVID and the economy first. For example, on trade deals, he said the US needs to focus domestically first before reaching out to other countries for FTAs. I didn't hear him prioritize any of the climate change or other issues before COVID or the economy. You're just raising a straw man.

Secretary Kerry announcing we're rejoining the Paris Climate Accords is definitely a prioritization.

I haven't heard Biden or his Treasury Secretary announcing a new Covid Relief Act being brought to the floor and voted on in Congress. Where is that?

Congress is considering this relief right now. I would assume that Pelosi/Schumer are in contact with Biden's team. As far as Biden and Yellen offering something new/different - that would be a huge, weird disconnect. Whatever this current bill does not address Biden can pursue after the Inauguration. Hopefully with a Democratic Senate.

No. Congress is dithering. As it has since July.

Biden needs to play harder. The Mr. Rogers thing is cold comfort. I like him but people are desperate right now and his massaging isn’t focused enough on that. It’s weird and disconnected from the reality that we’re all facing. Just my take but every time I hear him or Kamala talk right now it’s just not resonating.

Last time I checked, Biden doesn't take office for 5 weeks. What should he be playing harder with as he assembles his team?

Oh I guess he should just stay silent then.

The House can but the Senate never.

Play harder? He won! He hasn’t even been sworn in yet. How exactly should/can he play harder?

Agreed. I am the most moderate of moderates, but climate change is an emergency RIGHT NOW. It cannot be put off any longer.
