Sleep Training 8 Week Old..

One of the pps and second this. I would do taking care of babies (set your phone up and watch the videos while bouncing) and I really think you should try different swaddles. My son (also the bouncer lover) preferred the arms up swaddle. Took us awhile to get there. Most babies will pop out of swaddles you do yourself like it sounds like you’re describing. The miracle swaddle also worked for us for awhile.

I sleep trained at 6 weeks. Best thing I ever did. I had a great sleeper from then on.

OP here. We don't have a Snoo.

We tried swaddling for a long time and he hated it. He hates having his arms and hands confined.

He needs to be upright or he screams.

We have used a carrier and he still wakes up and cries multiple times during his nap. He will be fully asleep, wake up, and then start crying. Then the cycle repeats. He also takes 30-60 minutes to get to sleep with lots of white noise and bouncing.

OP here. I will. I plan to sleep train this weekend with my husband home. I was looking into the Ferber method.

This is so normal. It feels like it’s been forever but it hasn’t. Things change so fast. In a month you will have new worries and feel like those are consuming you. Just hold your 8 week old and watch some Netflix or wear him and go out for a walk. Seriously, don’t try to do everything.

Do not do this to your baby. Ask for help. Ask family, friends, neighbors, spouse, partner, but don't torture your baby. You will regret it.

Many people sleep train at 6 weeks with this book. You could always give it a try.

OMG. Don’t do Ferber with an 8 week old. Your baby could have colic or some kind of reflux. Give it some time.

You all are sick. The age just keeps getting younger and younger. You should never have had children. You suck as parents.

Way way too early for Ferber. I’m a huge proponent of Ferber and sleep training. And it’s way too early. Step away from that path.

I’m assuming he is an only. Pretend you have 2 older kids and can’t hold him all day long.

They only start to differentiate between night and day at 6 weeks. Those of you starting sleep training that young are cruel. But I think OP does need to let him cry sometimes and not pick him up as soon as he cries. I would give it 5-10 mins.

This part sticks out to me. Sounds like reflux. Sleep training won’t fix that. Trust me.

1. I sleep train at 4 months so I get it, but 8 weeks is way too young and it won't work

2. You baby probably has reflux

3. Get a night doula!!! Or a day doula. If your husband is a doctor you can afford this, please try this before sleep training

Yes the upright or screaming realky sounds like reflux. But it sounds like he doesn’t need to be up at night?
