Sure, if you trust Mayor Bowser. But, I don't think anyone does anymore. Her stooges fear her, but that's not trust.

So apparently DCPS has just fired the principal at SWW and SWWFS and some teachers are telling me they think it is because he publicly and openly in front of his staff said that he wouldn't reopen the schools unless it is safe. I see how DCPS is going to try and play this. 😔

That would be record-breaking speed for an HR action. Can't imagine there is truth to it.

But it doesn't say that he was FIRED, it just says that he will no longer be serving as principal. That is a much easier HR action because all it requires is removing him from the position - they may still be paying him a salary for the rest of the year, and just refusing to let him make decisions about the school.

Announcements never say fired and organizations never comment on personnel actions.

who would you rather fire, principal of most effective selective high school in DCPS or DCPS chancellor? In my mind this cut against most people's answer to that question.

Teachers said in interviews that Trogisch had been outspoken that he did not believe city leaders were adequately preparing his elementary school building for students’ return.

ā€œHe was speaking up about building readiness,ā€ said Richard Jackson, who heads the Council of School Officers, a union for mid-level leadership in the school system. ā€œHe was one of the few principals left who challenged and asked questions of management.ā€

Multiple sources saying he was fired because he was pushing back on school reopening.

Specifically, on ELEMENTARY school reopening - he was also the principal of Francis-Stevens Elementary.

Let me just say: if the chancellor fires more principals for standing up to their rushed, clearly-impractical "reopening" plan, teachers are going to strike. And parents are going to be right with them. The parents I talked to are PISSED at the chancellor, the mayor, and the DCPS Central Office. With council elections just around the corner, does Bowser want to unify parents against her now?!?!?! She's inches away from 7 seats on the council against her.

This is crazy. WTH?

SWW teacher told me he was fired. My child attends.
And most people at the school think it because he was outspoken about being concerned about safety for students and teachers re: reopening of SWW.

This will not go down well.

He was there for 15+ and was well-liked and well-respected.

Hey- I’m late to this thread. Can someone help me connect the dots between his firing and the WTU?
Or are we ready to change the narrative a bit & say that maybe folks like the WTU and this principal are actually looking out for your kids?

That's been obvious to me for a long time. I trust my kids teachers and usually their principals.

Long-time DC resident here who doesn't have kids in DCPS but cares about the safety of kids/teachers (and loathes COVID theater):

Please please please WashPost if you're following this thread: PLEASE out the bad actors in Central Office who are behind this. Please publish the smoking gun emails and secretly recorded phone conversations. Please interview this principal at length on deep background and print anything you can verify from that conversation.

Trogish was known to push back against DCPS and their policies. DCPS wanted to install metal detectors at Francis Stevens education campus (ece-8) and he was against installing because he didn’t want kids to feel like they were entering a prison. Eventually they were installed. Let’s be honest the buildings are not ready and they won’t be by November 9th.

Ferebee would have had to sign off on this.

My guess, a pissing contest and Trogisgh lost.

I want kids back in schools now and I think they can be. (Not the current plan, which is crazy.) BUT no principal should be fired for voicing health and safety concerns EVER.
