Dear School Without Walls High School Students and Families, I am writing today to inform you that Principal Richard Trogisch will no longer be serving as principal of School Without Walls High School and School Without Walls at Francis Stevens, effective immediately. DC Public Schools leadership is working closely with the school’s administrative team to ensure students, staff, and families are supported through the transition. Please join me in thanking Principal Trogisch for his service to School Without Walls. We will be forever grateful for the commitment he has shown to our school community. DCPS recognizes the critical and impactful role our school leaders play alongside our educators when it comes to student success. While we cannot speak to the specifics of this transition, we understand that leadership transitions are hard and are fully committed to a robust school leader selection process that addresses the needs of the entire School Without Walls community. Blah, blah, blah ##### |
| Wow. |
| How strange! |

So apparently DCPS has just fired the principal at SWW and SWWFS and some teachers are telling me they think it is because he publicly and openly in front of his staff said that he wouldn't reopen the schools unless it is safe. I see how DCPS is going to try and play this. 😡 |
| This feels like a good time mention that SWW falls under Jerry Jellig's domain. Was only a matter of time before something like this happened. |
I'm not in the know about Jerry Jellig - what is the subtext of this comment? |

That would be record-breaking speed for an HR action. Can't imagine there is truth to it. |
| Trogish was not opposed to kids coming back in person. |
But it doesn't say that he was FIRED, it just says that he will no longer be serving as principal. That is a much easier HR action because all it requires is removing him from the position - they may still be paying him a salary for the rest of the year, and just refusing to let him make decisions about the school. |
| This is truly shocking and I am very interested in the real story/ |
| He's a fixture at that school and clearly well thought of by the district as they asked him to take over Francis Stevens. It really is mysterious. |
| Because he wouldn’t open schools until it’s safe |
| Thanks DCPS! Like we really needed any more chaos and confusion this year. DCPS never fails to disappoint. |
| Why is this a DCPS problem. He may have done something that got him ousted. |
