We cant have a single boy band here (or in England) without them having to give interviews about their sexuality or drugs and them alluding to these things on social media, trying to seem edgy. Which would be fine, I guess- if their fanbase wasn't primarily kids! I love that BTS has stayed wholesome, happy and just GOOD- they just seem like nice, good guys. it really proves a stark contrast to the "you must be shocking" culture we have with our pop stars here. I know which I prefer

That’s Korean culture! All the groups are like that. Even the “edgier” or more “grown up” groups are barely pushing the envelope by Western standards. The flip side of that is that ANY scandal can negatively affect a career, or even sink it. And their scandals are things that would barely register for Americans/Westerners - like members openly dating, or being caught with marijuana.

I really might have to consume more Korean culture then, cause i get so exhausted with the constant dark stuff in western media. I worked for a Korean lady and she was so harsh- if you messed up once it was the end of the world and she'd let you have it. It was actually very stressful and hard. But I researched it and I guess in Korean culture people are expected to really work, and work, and keep working, to an extent that we find kind of shocking in the west. I will say when I left that job my stamina and ability to focus was at an all time high because she was so rigorous. So ultimately it did help me a bit, as hard as it was to go through

You’d love Korean dramas and movies then. They portray a more conservative culture than we’re used to in the US, but they are cute and fairly watchable. I think Netflix still has quite a few of them. Bonus, if you get into other k-pop groups, you might get to see your faves in some acting roles!

I'm watching A World of Married Couple which is a remake of the BBC Doctor Foster.

I like BTS, but haven’t expanded to other Kpop groups. I love watching them dance. This particular video was like a dance tribute to Michael Jackson. Now I will have that song on my head all day.

If you like auto-tune robot voices and a very simple melody I guess they are ok?

Thank you, I will have to check them out! I really enjoy the values and vibe of a lot of K pop

They have over 100 songs, most sound nothing like Dynamite. Try Mic Drop or Daechwita if you want more complex lyrics? It’s hard to suggest a typical song as they have a huge range of types. “Save Me” turns a lot of people into fans, Filter is sexy, Sweet Night is beautiful, Trivia:Love is fun.

At fifty-one years of age, I am ashamed to say that I only know of these “kids” due to my Uno app on my phone.

I’m addicted to the BTS World game.

Wow! I looked up their performance and it was amazing

What amazes me is their work ethic. It's inspiring and incredible. Can you imagine any American brand working 18 hour days? I'm sure Justin Bieber needs a smoke break and a lie down after about 2 hours, absolute tops. It makes me want to work harder

PP thank you for sharing that video, it was awesome! I agree about their work ethic and I really like that they behave with respect in interviews and stuff. I never listen to K-pop before and I didn't know that they don't sing in Korean!!

If you like the dances, a lot of the time you can search on YouTube for whatever song you want + dance practice and you’ll get a version of them just doing the dance in the studio to recorded music. This video of SHINee is my all time fave dance practice. RIP Jonghyun. https://youtu.be/ovztfpWPo5M

(Some artists do a dance cut of their music video that just has the performance, but the “dance practice” videos are pretty ubiquitous!)
