+1. The driver should have backed up and run over this stupid prick. |
You need help. |
| Dude delivery drivers call from the gate and get buzzed in. You don’t need to give out a code. |
You just made all of that up out of your butt. |
The driver did the right thing and not give that information to those strangers for all he knows they don’t live there either, let me find out my neighbor down the street is harassing the FedEx dude to get my address and then going to come up and question me about my deliveries, that’s your a**. |
First off, those people had no right to question or block him. He had no obligation to disclose the address that he was delivering to. If he did disclose, he would be violating the delivery client's privacy and potentially endangering them. How could he know whether they live there or not? If they had ill intentions or not? For all he knew, they could be dangerous criminals. |
| The HOA people can be crazy. I was yelled at by an HOA member in my not-gated community park, saying that he does not know me which means I am trespassing. |
And are you a person of color, perchance? Or somehow "different"? |
I look Hispanic, but I am not. I am just saying for some of these folks they feel very empowered to do whatever. |
How is his responsibility? |
Please. How is he a victim? Victim shaming much? Too many people think they are above the law because of the color of their skin. The HOA guy had no business blocking him in. With everything going on in this crazy world, I would’ve gone live too or called the cops immediately myself. This is NOT okay. |
Well, only if you attribute everything to racism. |
You don’t have to attribute everything to racism to see the problem here. Its clearly a race/class issue. |
I watched the whole video and the driver never mentioned race. Only the news reporters did. The driver responded pretty perfectly. Even decided not to drive around him and ruin the grass because he “didn’t want to me a bad situation worse”. When he did yell back or cuss back at his hostage takers, he said to his bosses that he probably could have not yelled back, but he was having a tough week. He is under no responsibility to violate his customer’s privacy by disclosing where he delivered what and to whom. These men did not identify themselves with any sort of authority (HOA ID, law enforcement badge, bylaws stating that delivery drivers are to be held captive at the whim of the Board, etc). |
