They did however have an announcement asking customers to stay 6 feet from other customers, which is impossible because I don't think the aisles are that wide.

Or how about your order online instead of complaining? The need for online shopping and closing stores would be in demand if people stop going all together

Not everyone has internet access, computers and extra $ in online banking. THATS WHY.

And that is why we need to really solve the problem here.

Ive been ordering online and already things are now backed up over a week. And its only the beginning.

Stop with the BS excuses. Most people have a phone in the family to make a phone call to place and order or to do online. The money you pay for gas and or a bus can go toward the extra money it pays to shop online. Have someone place the order for you and cash app them. Solutions to every excuse

Everyone in the Asian store close to us were wearing masks and gloves - from cashiers, stockers to customers. People were maintaining social distancing and no one talked at all.

Our Indian grocery store is not allowing anyone to come in if they are not wearing masks and gloves. You can phone in your order and they will give a slot for curbside pickup.

Even Costco was not giving workers masks and customers were certainly not wearing masks. So stupid!

I love how all these people say "just order groceries." Who delivers your groceries...robots? Nope. People. Whose lives seem to matter less than yours.

Funny how your solutions only focus on the customers. What are the workers suppose to do all crammed in there with the extra workers trying to fulfill orders? Or the delivery people out there putting themselves at risk?

I watched an employee in Giant yesterday with no mask actively eating food hand to mouth and chewing while stocking the shelves.

There are seriously no online spots open. Our Giant stopped curbside pick-up anyway.

What is your solution to the problem that persists in my area 3 weeks into quarantine: there are no grocery delivery or pick up options available. Period.

She needs to go to a different doctor

Same for my brother who works at Target. My brother has a dr’s note, Target doesn’t care. He must show up for work or he is fired. If he’s fired he cannot file for unemployment. No masks. No gloves. They don’t want him wearing a bandana. He cannot afford for pay some astronomical price on Amazon so I am
mailing him some. target is horrible.

Here's a grocery store that is putting together boxes of set produce -- you buy a box and you get what you get.

I had a similar experience in my local Giant. Had to pick up prescriptions and while they had barriers at the register, there wasn't one by the cash register where the clerk was working. She didn't have a mask or gloves on.

When I went to check out (self) every register was being used and it felt so uncomfortably close. We definitely weren't six feet apart. Instead of having every self check open, I wish they had limited it to three people at a time.

I haven't been to any other store but Giant since this started and it does seem that they are not doing anything to protect their workers. I can't remember the last time they had cart wipes.

It sounds like WF's is better but they are above my price range. Has anyone been to Harris Teeter or Safeway and had a better experience?

Are people finding it better to go first thing in the morning or later at night?

I don’t know about Giant specifically but many stores have special hours designated for seniors and others who are high risk in the mornings. You should check. I think going at night just before closing can be a good time or just a weekday around 10am or so: after senior hours but before lunch hour.

Ugh that’s awful. Hope your brother stays healthy.

Similar experience here with self check outs at some store. On a grocery run yesterday woman was letting her kids use the entire area as a play area while she slooowly checked out. Had to wait until they were done, there was absolutely no way to keep distance from the family of the year there.

I just returned from Whole Foods and cried the whole way home. The sweetest girl was my cashier. Ahead of me in line was a (possibly ) homeless man. She took every precaution after he finished and he interrupted a few times to ask her for things. She was very patient. She wiped everything down. Changed her gloves. Wiped everything. I wanted to hug her. I felt so guilty as the customer and wished I could do more.
These people deserve raises and a special place in heaven for the work they are doing. I know some of them have no other options. It’s such a shame. If anything this pandameic should be teaching us more about how divided we are as a society. That’s the vaccine we need - compassion and more equality.
