Grocery workers starting to die- we need a better system to get food to people

I am still angry that Giant had Leilani Jordan work as a GREETER during the pandemic. Who needs a greeter during a pandemic! Outreageous.

What is wrong with a diet of rice and beans?? That is what most of the world eats day in and day out. These other countries also have police and workers of all kinds!

She seemed like such an amazing person. I’m sick over her death. Giant failed this woman and her family. On CNN, it seems she did more than greet, though. She helped the seniors with their groceries, and it seemed she loved the work.

Mmmm Hmmmm....please name these countries where they eat nothing but beans and rice and tell me about what life is like there. What kind of health care they have (do people from industrialized nations with extreme health conditions fly there for life saving surgery that they can't get in their own country?) What is the crime rate in those countries?

She last worked in the store on March 16. Monday the 16th was the first day of the Maryland shutdown. Everything was happening very quickly. Giant didn't force Leilani Jordan to come to work during the pandemic.

I say this kindly, our nation is fortunate enough to not know what real poverty looks like. They don’t know that it really is a “rice and beans” diet that keeps people fed in poor countries. This is not a criticism of one person or the nation. They just don’t know and I hope they never really need to know what a rice and beans diet really looks like in terms of poverty and hunger.

She had cerebral palsy and the greeter job was one created through a program for people with disabilities (like the Walmart greeter job, which is no longer around).
