I didn't say any of that. Posting the comment "You sound dumb" adds absolutely nothing to the conversation. Zero. If that's the best someone can do, just read and don't post. |
| The police should have standing orders to shoot-to-kill people who are outside. Just like they do with rioters. Once a few dozen people get shot, everyone will get the message. |
The title says Maryland. But yes, unless everyone shelters in place, we will have many more deaths. |
No. Don’t exaggerate. |
|
You mean a stay at home order. Shelter in place would happen if there was a mass shooter/tornado/incoming bomb.
They are different. |
|
MD should have one.
But Gov Hogan has only issued a weak business closure order. Read his interpretive guidance on what business are considered essential and thus exempt from the shutdown. It’s ridiculously broad and thus companies are still able to make most people go to work. We need the business shutdown to be truly essential not some BS that business lobbyists drafted |

I’m not exaggerating a bit. I see people walking by my house all day long. I haven’t been outside in over a week. If I had a gun, I’d be tempted to start shooting them for being outside when we’re all supposed to be avoiding everyone. |
So how about the doctors, nurses, medical personal, and other essential employees? Delivery personnel? hemodialysis patients who need to go to do their procedure a few times weekly? Someone out to fill a prescription? There are so many reasons someone would need to go outside. So unless the national guard will have capacity to fulfill all these needs, people would still need to be out and about. |
You sound sane. |
I am quite sane. As evidenced by the fact that I’M actually doing my part to stop this epidemic. If you and everyone else did what I’m doing, this thing would be over with in 3 weeks. But half measures won’t work. And every a-hole I see walking down the sidewalk in front of my apartment is undermining the sacrifices I’ve made. It’s disgusting. And yes, the police should be enforcing this in the most extreme way possible. What’s your alternative? Just let everyone get infected and have 30 million people die? Do it my way, and only a few thousand stupid people need to die. Do it your way, and it’s 10% of the whole country. But I’m the insane one, according to you.
|
Actually, it wouldn’t be over in 3 weeks. Let’s say person A got infected just before social distancing started. 14 days later, person A is sick. Person A family are now at risk and are self quarantining - so at least another 2 -3 weeks for their illnesses to run the course. That’s 5 weeks at least. And then what happens, everyone just goes back to their normal life, but what about other cities? The big mistake was not addressing it earlier and doing it at a national scale. The two weeks that you are talking about could have worked back in February. Now, we’re in for a longer ride. So, do not sit at the window hating those outside. Join them within a reason and with social distancing and with strong understanding that this could easily stretch to June. |
Stop posting on DCUM, Mr President. You’re not welcome here. |
You are suggesting that we suspend the legal system and YOU become judge, jury, and executioner for your little patch of Maryland? That's not the social contract is signed up for. Yes, you are insane if you think randomly executing people who walk by your house is rational behavior. It doesn't matter what crime you imagine them to be guilty of. |
I bet you don’t care about the Constitution when the threat is a brown terrorist with a religion you don’t follow. |
