The police should have standing orders to shoot-to-kill people who are outside. Just like they do with rioters. Once a few dozen people get shot, everyone will get the message.
No. Don’t exaggerate.
I’m not exaggerating a bit. I see people walking by my house all day long. I haven’t been outside in over a week. If I had a gun, I’d be tempted to start shooting them for being outside when we’re all supposed to be avoiding everyone.
You sound sane.
I am quite sane. As evidenced by the fact that I’M actually doing my part to stop this epidemic. If you and everyone else did what I’m doing, this thing would be over with in 3 weeks. But half measures won’t work. And every a-hole I see walking down the sidewalk in front of my apartment is undermining the sacrifices I’ve made. It’s disgusting. And yes, the police should be enforcing this in the most extreme way possible. What’s your alternative? Just let everyone get infected and have 30 million people die? Do it my way, and only a few thousand stupid people need to die. Do it your way, and it’s 10% of the whole country. But I’m the insane one, according to you.
Actually, it wouldn’t be over in 3 weeks. Let’s say person A got infected just before social distancing started. 14 days later, person A is sick. Person A family are now at risk and are self quarantining - so at least another 2 -3 weeks for their illnesses to run the course. That’s 5 weeks at least. And then what happens, everyone just goes back to their normal life, but what about other cities? The big mistake was not addressing it earlier and doing it at a national scale. The two weeks that you are talking about could have worked back in February. Now, we’re in for a longer ride. So, do not sit at the window hating those outside. Join them within a reason and with social distancing and with strong understanding that this could easily stretch to June.
Stop posting on DCUM, Mr President. You’re not welcome here.
