Please let me shamelessly brag here: I am so happy I only have 1 child!

I have two wonderful children. My happiness increases a hundred-fold when I see how much they love each other. Thankfully, we do not have money issues.

Told my friend about a cheap camp for spring break - she reminded me she had to pay a lot for 2 kids.
Now I see a topic where parents won’t shell out money for assigned seats on airplane because the family is so large.
It is so, so easy to have only one, especially when they are 9+ yo.
I might of course get my karma when he is a teen but for now I just enjoy it so much.
Thank you for listening! I can’t say that in real life as my friends all have 2.

Are you married or a single parent?

Are you over the teenage years yet

Separated, and happy about it

Oh lord. Let me guess, other adults are expected to separate / give up the seats they paid for so this party can sit together?

It's a little more nuanced than that, but that's the gist.

OP here, I don’t care what they expect, I am just happy I can pay and call it a day. Also I won’t be expected to give up my seat because I have my own kid with me lol.
I just would hate to be in a situation where I don’t know my seat because I have too many kids lol

Sorry for your kid. It is not fun to be from a broken home.

And I am sorry for yours, it’s not fun to have an unkind parent

I have only one, a son. I am happy and humble for various reasons. The most important one being that he's truly the kindest human I've ever known, even at 16.

?

We have 4 kids, and we always pay for assigned seats. It’s really NBD.

I read that other airplane thread. The poster is just being cheap.

That's fantastic, OP! I'm happy that you're happy and that you have this outlet for bragging I'm thrilled with the number of we kids we have, too--there are so many ways to be happy.

I have twins so I have no idea what it’s like to have just one. I’m happy for everyone who feels contented with their family.

This.

But...it’s weird to be happy that you only have to pay airline fees for one kid. I mean, come on. This is such a nonissue.

NP it’s not weird at all. Have to give up stuff if you have to pay for 2x instead of 1x. Like fancy activities and camps, expensive vacations, private school, private university, etc. Unless one has a very high HHI, it’s a fact.
