Does the documentary explain why his CTE was so bad for his age (at the time he stopped playing)? Or does CTE progress even after you’ve stopped playing football? Are some people more susceptible to worse CTE than others? Just curious if every other player in the NFL, at 23, is walking around with the same level of damage.

Maybe his CTE was advanced for his age because he had been playing football since his early teens, went off to play college football at 17 then played pro at age 20. The hits were hard. Hernandez was a thug as a freshman, punching a bar worker when he was asked to pay his bill, and there was a shooting incident during that time frame that implicated him too.

I grew up in a family with similar dynamics. It's likely his dad hit him from early on and over the years, starting head injuries at an earlier age than your average football player. (His mom was hospitalized after a beating from her husband)

He got beat up all the time. He was a repressed homosexual. His dad "slapped the fagot out of him." Truly a tragic story all around.

That makes more sense as to why his CTE was so bad. As others have said, all pros start playing their youth.

In his brother's book it claims he was molested starting at age 6 and it continued for several years.

Horrid - there is one tape where he blames her for not caring about knowing who he was or being there for him in childhood, a very sad audio . Soon after his father died, she went on to date his cousin’s boyfriend, breaking them up and bringing him to live in their house. I believe he moved out and went to live with his cousin.

She also told him he should give her 1 million dollars and was annoyed that he didn't agree immediately.
