Hi, parent who belongs to that Facebook group. |
| So are there parents who want to bus kids from one area to another for schools? Honest question. As in either from a lower income area to a higher and vice versa? That being for the goal to increase diversity at all schools. |
Honest answer: MCPS is already doing a whole lot of this, right now. And if you want to reduce it, you know what's required? Boundary changes. |
No. No one wants their kid to be bussed. However, some of us realize that, whether for overcrowding reasons or other reasons, it isn't possible to send your kid to the closest school. |
Although it might be possible. And doing an analysis of the possibilities is a good thing to do. |
Yup. My understanding is that's all this analysis is doing. It will produce an overview of school utilization based on the 4 factors outlined in the proposal. It won't even include boundary recommendations. That's further down the line. And yet, people are flipping out, as though they're being asked to bus their kid 45 minutes away to inner Detroit tomorrow. |
THIS! There are Churchill parents saying that they think their kids are going to get bussed to Wheaton instead. It’s totally ridiculous. |
| Can we rezone white oak to PG? |
+1 When we lived in another school district, if the local school was full, you got assigned to the closest school that was not over capacity. The school district was small enough that this worked fine, and there were no school buses. But MCPS is too big to do this, so they need to redraw boundaries more regularly to accommodate changes to the school population, and yes, that means some of us will move. I would not bother going to those meetings now that I know all some parents do is shout and heckle, and it turns ugly. I'll just stay home and read it online. |
| I really want to join the facebook group just to see what is being said, but don't want to be associated with this nonsense. Dilemma, dilemma. |
I joined both FB groups, hoping to understand what all the hubbub is about. Though I can say it is hard to form any opinion when there is a lack of transparency from BOE and MCPS administration on the wording of the RFP. MCPS track record on changes is not stellar. I do like the changes in have happen for CES & Magnet selection but I am withholding my thoughts on new ELA/Math programs until further notice.
Please stop with the "others, them over there..." comments; it is disheartening especially with everything that is going on in this present day. |
Why would we do that? |
It's a good thing that I keep reading on DCUM that people who oppose the boundary analysis aren't racists, because otherwise I would classify this as a racist statement. |
Have we gotten to the point we can’t lament being affiliated to a slum like white oak? Go you not want the weakest person at your job to be fired and go work somewhere else? It isn’t you wish them I’ll buy that they simply go away because they suck. That seems very human to me and not racist |
|
Clearly a troll. Are you an activist trying to get people jacked up, a real racist (clearly not from MoCo with that garbled Post), or just a very bored and sad human being?
Let’s see if they start to swamp this thread with this type of post to get everyone agitated. You may not like the FB groups, but at least they’re not anonymous. |
