I also love my peloton.
I did not love biking before and I still don't bike outside. I had been to a few spin classes at my gym which I had enjoyed, and I tried Peloton at a friend's before I got mine. You can also try them for free at any of the Peloton stores - there's one in Bethesda and one in Tysons. We've had it a year now, and I'm approaching 300 rides. I also do regular strength workouts and some yoga. It has genuinely changed my life for the better. |

I am an app user only - I have a cheaper non peloton spin bike, non peloton treadmill and an Apple TV at home.
I would buy a second hand peloton bike way before a new one but my barrier is that my app us is $20 a month but the subscription when you have one of their bikes or treads is $40 a month. I use the app for other workouts about 40% of the time and dont think I am missing much by being on an unconnected bike so I stay on my non branded. if they ever drop the monthly price for bike users, I will get (a used) one. until then, the app is the best workout app i have ever used. |
| where do you buy a used peleton? |
| so if I buy a pelaton, do i get access to all the videos (stregth, yoga etc). are their live classes for those? how do you view them? (bike screen seems inconvienient) |
Yes. You have access to the app and can view them on any device that supports the app. You can also cast the bike screen to your smart TV. |
There is a buy sell trade group on Facebook. |
Yes, you get access to all the videos but there's a monthly fee ($39 I think?) You pay that no matter how many classes you take. There are live classes but I rarely take them as the whole point is to take classes whenever you feel like it. You can view non-bike workouts on an Ipad/laptop or stream them to a TV. |
I'd never taken a spin class when we got ours. And I didn't actually like it the first time I rode. It took me a while to find my groove. |
+1 I'd taken a few, but the Peloton is INFINITELY better than the general spin class. |
Yes. I assumed before I got it that live was best but if you couldn't do it live then peloton would be a good substitute. But Peloton classes are much much better than any live class I've ever taken. That's because the instructors are really excellent (in classes I'd taken, some were good, some OK, but none as good as Peloton instructors), the training feels a lot more focused (if that's what you want - e.g. I love powerzone classes, but sometimes I just want to listen to great music and then I pick by playlist), and spin isn't really a thing where you get a lot of feedback from the instructor while you're doing it. They don't come round and adjust your form or anything, so it's just as helpful to have the Peloton instructor remind me about posture etc. And the bike itself is great, and I like that you can see exactly how well you're doing and how hard you're working. In spin classes it was all "turn the resistance a quarter turn to the right" but I never really knew what that was, and I'd lose track of how much I'd turned it, and it was too easy to just turn it the other way again. With Peloton, because you can see what resistance you're on, you stay honest and you also know what you can do and what will be difficult for you. I feel like I'm an advert for Peloton but it really is incredible! |
| do people feel as though it is a good workout? Do they feel more toned? lose weight? I'm VERY close in purchasing one but realized i never have asked that questioN! |
It's an amazing cardio workout. Even in 20 minutes I can get really sweaty and out of breath. It can also be a good strength workout for the legs and butt and they do feel more toned. Losing weight is, as everyone will tell you a million times, more about diet, but you can certainly lose weight if you watch what you eat at the same time. You will burn a lot of calories. The strength classes you can do off the the bike are also great but they're a bonus, you don't buy the bike for that as you could probably find similar strength classes on other apps/platforms. |
| I’ve had mine for a year and a half and am just as into it as I was when I first got it. I’m currently doing the July challenge, which is at least one class a day for 30 days. I was not really into biking or spinning before. |
| Former spin instructor here and I LOVE my Peleton bike. It's well-made, the instruction is far more motivational than anything I've had access to before and there are so many instructors and formats to choose from that there seems to be something for everyone. If you're a data geek, there's a lot of data you can track to see how you're improving or to push yourself to work hard (or take it easy on a recovery day). It's one of the best purchases I've ever made (and if you can afford the bike, I wouldn't let the $20/month difference between the app cost and the bike subscription cost deter you — the immersive experience and real-time feedback are worth it. If I ride 20 classes in a month, the difference is $1.00 per class. To me it's worth it to have the bike. |

It’s really amazing! I was a big runner and still am but decided to try bike. I love it! It seems expensive but if you use it daily ( like me) it is worth it. Im a morning exerciser and being able to work out on my schedule and save 15-20 min to gym eac way is invaluable.
I also do app on treadmill, weights, yoga. I work out much longer as I’ll do a 30-45 min ride, 10 min strength, a core and some days a run. It’s addictive! |
