It's a great workout -- far better than any I've done before. I haven't lost weight and I don't feel more toned, but I can tell I'm in better shape since I started using it. That's why the metrics are great -- I have a higher output now than I used to. |
| Put me on the list too - can't say enough about it. I had never been to a spin class before and I guess was just a victim of the marketing. I am 200+ rides in and I look forward to getting on it and shutting out the world for a little while. |
Someone on another thread said Denis can do yoga on her face and I agree
That said the bike is amazing and the community is amazing. I’ve always been anti-these kind of workouts and I totally fell in love. |
| How did any of you get your fsa to pay for it? |
I don't think that's ever happened. |
I didn’t try it, but I’ve heard that you can get it covered with a dr’s note. The dr has to specify that it’s indicated for improvement of an existing condition, not just general health. |

I have had mine for 3 years and am almost at 1,000 rides. I love it. I did used to go to a local spin studio but haven’t gone back since I got my bike.
I have the app on my phone and iPad. I spoke okay yoga classes onto my tv. I take classes on the app when I’m on vacation (spin, yoga, meditation, outdoor running). I am a huge fan. When I bought my bike I crunched numbers based on how much my studio was costing for a monthly pass and I needed to use the bike consistently for 13 months for it to go for itself and after that I was saving money. |

+1 for all the positives. I am in better shape. I have more strength in my legs & butt, and I think my shape is better.
We've had ours since last Nov and we use is very consistently. Especially useful in the winter months when it's hard to get motivated to put on boots, coat, etc to go to a gym. |

Another Peloton addict here. I have the first generation bike and the tread. I exercise with Peloton every day and am constantly telling people how wonderful it is. I also love to follow the instructors on Instagram. They are great.
For those asking about weight loss, I didn’t lose weight until I cleaned up my diet. I worked out every day and gained weight. Nutrition is key. Keto works for me — find what works for you. |
| I know this is an old thread but just wanted to chime in if anyone is considering getting the bike. We just had ours delivered last week. Had been considering it for many months, and finally went for it. If you can make it work financially, you will NOT be disappointed. I’ve been a couch potato my whole life, but no longer. This bike is amazing and DH and I have ridden every day. Can’t say enough about how FUN it is and the community aspect makes ALL the difference! |
| Is the bike any different from a normal exercise bike? I have a Schwinn Airdyne exercise bike (works your arms too) that I use daily while watching TV. Is there something better about the Peloton equipment compared to a normal exercise bike? |
Well, spin bikes in general are very different from Airdynes. The Peloton bike is comparable to other high-quality spin bikes. The screen, programming, and on-screen metrics are what differentiates it from others in the market, and it is those things that make people love their Pelotons. But certainly you can get an excellent workout on an Airdyne if you enjoy doing that. |
| I don’t get it. It is riding a bike. You are sitting and riding. Sometimes you stand and ride or change incline/resistance. But it is riding a bike and limits what muscles you are engaging. I wouldn’t call that the greatest most thorough workout in the world- not even close. I guess people will throw their money at anything trendy. |
| Anyone get overuse injuries (knees, back, neck, etc?) from focusing on Peloton workouts? That's one of my concerns -- that I might do the Peloton because it's available at home, to the exclusion of other forms of working out (swimming, treadmill, elliptical, etc.). |

For someone very out of the exercise routine...haven't in years partially due to a partial tear in knee, but desperate to get back to exercises..do you recommend it?
I am so scared of spending the money and the novelty wearing off really quick. I am just thinking maybe with the live format and energetic music, this time could really be different? I always need music, tv or some kind of distraction when I used to work out and sometimes if you don't find the right thing, you spend more time searching then your exercise is over Which I know the peloton will solve....really torn. i think in my head, I am convinced everyone who buys it is an exercise pro...any total newbies out there or someone who has not exercise in a really long time and been really happy with it? |
