Do you think women are more attractive now or in the past?

I think the decline of smoking has helped people look better across the board.

+1 Plus the fact that more people are aware of sun damage. Tanning beds were really popular when I grew up and now people slather on sunscreen.

I always feel that women were prettier in the past. Something about the hair and the face and the makeup, they just looked fresh!

I just feel like if I go to instagram right now, I can find 100 women who are way hotter than any of the models who were on TV or magazines in the 80s.

I guess to some extent, it depends what we're trying to compare: the very prettiest women from each era; the middle of the pack, or the ugliest.

(And, also, I tend to agree with the women who posted above who find the whole discussion a little distasteful since it treats women like objects.)

I think women and men were more naturally attractive in the past. Everything is fake and overdone now.

Between not smoking and staying away from sun burns, I think most people today look better and younger than most people in the past.

The down side is that a lot of current clothing styles and makeup trends are unflattering on anyone except the very young.

yes Instagram is definitely a freak show of hottness. Sure filter it every which way possible but an IG model's capital is the hot look and many work on the look daily to further their following. Women of the 80s or 90s had to do fashion modeling to earn big money.

Yet they all look the same. Overfilled lips, arched eyebrows, fake eyelashes, overly painted faces, fake shine, fake curls.
These are the same women insisting over and over again that beauty comes in every shape and color and than they all look the same.

Hair is much better now that is for sure.

That's how it seems now, but give it another couple of years. Those controlled curls coming down from the cheeks to the chest area; half brown, half blonde...will be laughable soon.

This. They all look the same. Over countoured faces with bronzer galore, botoxed forehead, lip fillers, eyelash extensions and a “hollow dead-eyed” look that they think oozes sexy.

Women used to look different from one another. Make-up, if worn, accented their natural features and you only caked it on for special events like getting married or a Glamour Shots picture.

If people think women have gone downhill, men surely have gone downhill faster!!

I think in the past women were much more cookie cutter or generic. Have you seen the breathtaking genetic mixes of different races that are now mainstream? It's like you get the very best of eyes, lips, and bodies.

No smoking and less skin damage makes everyone look 10 years younger than a generation ago at the same age.
