it’s easy to feel safe on a bus or whatever, isn’t it? The thing is even if some of them has been wearing seatbelts, the ones who weren’t would have still been human missiles bouncing around and hitting the people who were restrained. It’s hard to say how much it would have helped for a few to be belted in. People don’t understand that when they refuse to secure themselves (oand any cargo in the car) they’re not just putting themselves in danger, but anyone who’s in their way if they become loose in the vehicle.

So the brakes were out. And? What happened to downshifting or throwing the shifter into park to lock up the drivetrain? Yes, it will destroy the transmission. It will also stop the vehicle, too. Don't they teach thus stuff in drivers ed anymore?

DP. Not sure if limos have engine brakes. The driver may have only had seconds to try to brake and either didn’t think to pull the emergency brake or pulled it too late.
