I feel sorry for anyone counting on the ivies to bring them happiness and validation.

YHS admissions sucked at other schools, too.

So? All of NoVA is bad.

Maybe FCPS had better luck?

It would be hard to do worse than Yorktown.

They need more tiger moms.

I know, I was wondering that, too. Must have been a particular program they were applying for?

Also schools like Roanoke College and Radford were certainly not accepting everyone.

They don't appear to be saying if they had better luck or not.

I'm very confused by this as well.

AND, due to the skyrocketing cost of college tuiton and Sue Orzman's rec's, going to community college for 2 years and then transferring for the last 2 years saves THOUSANDS of $s in student loans. Also, there is guaranteed admission from NVCC after 2 years to some State universities. This is why rates are high in many HSs.

No person with any sense buys in any school system thinking it’s a golden ticket to the Ivies.

Except those who buy in Bethesda. While not exactly a golden ticket, they did seem to have better luck than Arlington.

Not that this accounts for all the difference, but there are plenty of people in VA who believe that Ivies are not worth the cost when compared to UVA. Plenty of top students consigned to the fate of UVA and don't apply to Ivies.

All of the data they collected is self-reported and not verified in any way. When you have that many people supposedly not being accepted to community college, it makes me question the data collection, like maybe something about the questionnaire led some people to report everywhere they applied, and then only where they’re matriculating but not everywhere they were accepted.

I also think it’s possible some people who are accepted to/attending elite schools that might only accept one student from a high school declined to participate because having the “1” in that school’s column would out them as having responded.

Yale seems to really like Bethesda. Just about 12% of the kids that applied got in. Less than 1% of Arlington’s applicants got in.

There are many other places in the US with much better college stats. NoVA happens to suck.

What % of FCPS and ACPS got in?

So you keep saying. Go do your homework instead of picking on rival HSs on a mommy forum.
