Does Wakefield have any Ivies?

They are definitely wrong. I’m looking at Naviance for YHS and the numbers don’t match up.

The reported numbers are mediocre at best, vaguely dismal at worst.

Per the magazine, 1 admission to one Ivy (Dartmouth) out of 31 Ivy applications.

That's actually a better admissions rate than Yorktown, but still well below the overall admissions rate to Ivies.

I counted three admits from Wakefield.

Correction -that was 2017. PP is right only 1 is listed.(But as PPs have noted, data is not necessarily accurate)

Not necessarily inaccurate? Try demonstrably inaccurate.

Arlington Magazine got the data from APS, so any fault lies squarely with APS. Seems like FCPS and FCCPS were smarter and declined to play.

I’m starting to get the feeling that you intend to continue living the lie that APS is worth the high price you paid for your home. I hope your commute is good at least.

Don’t Nobody care about TC.

I think you've hit on a point the OP was making---nobody speaks highly of TC and people tend to praise Arlington. Looking at these stats, though, I can't see why anyone would move from Alexandria in search of better schools in APS. Just doesn't seem worth the effort.

But few people are measuring the quality of a school district based solely upon its Ivy admits. That's a ridiculous measure, especially considering how few admits there are anywhere. Most measure overall quality through things like test scores (SOLs or SATs), ability to attract and retain good teachers, quality and breadth of extracurricular offerings, PTA resources. Not everyone cares about these things because their ultimate goal is to get Larlo into HYPS. They want their children to have a superior experience, regardless of outcome. For most who don't have some sort of hook, or preternatural ability, Ivy is never going to happen. There are many smart, successful, well-rounded, and wealthy adults who have never stepped foot on an Ivy campus. Please don't move to APS thinking it's going to be some sort of magic carpet ride straight to an Ivy. It's not, and nobody in APS represents the schools in that manner. If this is your only goal, look elsewhere, like TJ or a highly selective private school.

As someone who just sold a home in Arlington, my home was worth almost twice the price I paid. So... yeah. Totally worth it.

Looking at the numbers, it’s not just Ivy admissions where APS is suffering.

And, to add to that, you have to have high ability to get into TJ or a highly selective private. If you can clear those hurdles, your chances at an Ivy are greater because of your ability, or connections, or both.
