Food for mid-morning birthday party

Worst party my kids ever went to. No birthday cake. They are grown and still bring it up from time to time. As I recall, each child got a mini donut from Dunkin. Kid had a full doughtnut with a candle in the middle.

That's so absurd that it must be true. I can see why your kids would still be talking about it! Sheesh!

-coffee, juice, water

-bagels & cream cheese
-yogurts

This should be plenty, right?

don't do the bagels and the yogurts. Add some finger food for the kids (puffs) and some carrot sticks and some mini quiches.

OMG no. Do not listen to these people OP. Your original menu is perfect for a morning little kids party.

Sheesh you people are so picky!

Yogurt and fruit would be fine for any anti-carb peeps.

Not everyone is "anti-carb" as a diet fad. People with diabetes or hypoglycemia or related issues might appreciate some options with more protein. How hard is it to put out some smoked salmon with bagels?

Bagels have as much sugar as a doughnut. You can view this as catering to dietary fads, but as someone who hosts a lot of brunch parties at my home, I can tell you most of the moms won't touch bagels, but will gobble up egg dishes and vegetable options. Again, depends on your social circle and what kind of hosting you want to do.

We did a mid-morning play date at the park for my so/ BD. We had croissants, yogurt parfait buffet, juice and milk for kids and a cold brew bar with milks, simple syrup, whip cream and choc syrup.

I would add a protein like cheese sticks. Something easy but otherwise I feel nauseous just reading that list. Give the kids a chance to not over-sugar our.

Include butter. I don't like cream cheese on my bagels. Butter or jam or something like that.

I'm PP. A neighbor and I were laughing about that the other day. The birthday family moved away long ago. And, each kid got a donut hole--not even a mini donut. The mom probably had fruit, but I really am not sure.

I think it’s good to consider your guests. All of them. Perhaps you can do egg muffins in a tin or perhaps a veggie platter or smoked salmon or cold cut meats. You will need another option besides bagels and cream cheese. At a minimum serve pastries too. Not everyone likes bagels

Not all kids like bagels. I would add some muffins and possibly donuts - it's a party, make it fun!

We’re doing the same tomorrow. Party is 10-12. Mini bagels and muffins to start with coffee for grownups. Around 11 I’m pulling out chicken tenders and veggie sushi (wegmans platter). Juice boxes and la Croix to drink. Cupcakes for dessert. I think your menu is fine. Last year I stumbled on the tenders idea and it seemed to be a hit with the kids.

This would be a great addition for OP. Or even something like bacon. But she needs to add some sort of protein that the kids will find appealing, and chicken tenders or bacon would do it.

Frozen mini quiches, or pre-made quiches from the store, are super easy. Need something with protein.
