God, I miss Loehmann's. Try the TJMaxx in Friendship Heights, and Georgetown, and even Tyson's. All three of those are clean and relatively well organized. |
No replacement for Loehmann's! Best wardrobe I ever had was courtesy of the back room. Loved the back room clearance rack, but hates those open fitting rooms! |
Came across this just now and it is 2021. Boy I loved Loehmann's. It was much more than shopping. It was a treasure hunt adventure!I still remember the old Loemann's in the Bronx. No credit cards and no returns! Loved it |
OMG I miss Loehmann's so much. Recently I found two unopened packages of their store-brand pantyhose. Probably a collector's item by now. |
Think they went out of business |
Shopping there was one of my favorite activities, nothing compares these days. |
No more Century 21. Gone. |
The one in Rockville is organized. Not the cleanest dressing rooms but not terrible. |
I loved the filene’s basement in boston and then when they closed, century 21. i’m sad century 21 is no more. it’s so sad. I loved the experience. |
Me, too. Century 21 was the best. ![]() ![]() |
Agree! I lived not too far away when I started my professional career. I grew up in NY and learned about quality clothing at Loehmann's. I have not found a replacement |
Century 21 is overwhelming though. Loehmann's wasn't as big. |
Loehmans was the awful place with open dressing rooms my mom dragged me to....I would never willingly go myself. |
+1. I'm so wistful for those days! Could really find unusual pieces or designer deals, like a $1500 Max Mara jacket for $150! Agree that there is no substitute. I think Nordstrom Rack might be the closest, but yes, not an exact match. What about hitting some of the outlets, like Off 5th and Last Call and the like? |
I found some great stuff at Filene's Basement, and on Century 21 when I went to NYC. TJMaxx/Saks Off 5th/Nordstrom Rack . . .they aren't the same. I do some ebay/poshmark for the thrill of finding something great, but it's tricky.
