So much for sex and gender being different and gender being a social construct that can change . Why not teach creationism since they threw science out the window ?

All science is equal, but some science is MORE equal than others.

Even that’s gender. They are now claiming that you can switch from male to female, not just man to woman .

Though its called gender reassignment surgery, I think the way gender and sex are used these days, sex reassignment would be more accurate? Since gender is used for social identity, but sex for physical reality. Surgery does change physical reality.
no surgery changes your chromosomes

Except the gov’t doesn’t assign sex based on chromosomes. If they did, we’d have six or seven different sexes. Instead, the government accepts the word of a doctor who —for 99% of us— took a quick peek between our legs when we were 3 seconds out of the birth canal. Only a few newborns have testing to clarify gender and even then, there’s only legally an A or B option regardless of what their chromosomes show. I’m a cisgender female married to a cismale and mom to cisgender kids, but I took college human anatomy, genetics, and sociology so I know how arbitrary male and female designations can be on a purely chromosomal level.

Leave it to FCPS school board. Mountains out of molehills. Creating problems where there were none--or at least almost none.

That link doesn't say that Fairfax schools are going to teach kids that you can change your sex. It doesn't mention anything about changing sex.

Did you post the wrong link? Or are you just stirring the pot? Or do you have some source of inside information?

Stirring the pot. GFY, OP.

So what’s the point of them teaching kids about “sex assigned at birth” if you claim you can change only your gender ?

it says they’ll use the term “sex assigned at birt” instead of biological sex which heavily implies they believe you can change your sex as in the past changing your gender was the entire point of these things

Why would a public school develop a curriculum that is in defiance of science?

This is idiocy masked as understanding.

which is not relevant to PP's point, which is that sex is not based on chromosomes, but on genitalia. Which, in fact, CAN be changed. And are also not the same as "gender".

Seems like we are going to have a lot of confused young people in the coming years.
Glad my kids have long since graduated.

I thought the whole point of the gender dysphoria is that people CANNOT easily change their gender - People with one gender sometimes have a different sex. They can express their gender without changing their sex (and we can fight over their pronouns and bathrooms in that case) OR they can change their sex to match their gender - via surgery. They have not of course changed their chromosomes, but that doesn't matter.
