Looks like the southern half of the state.

So not Orlando?

Probably not Orlando. The southern part of Florida is almost certainly screwed, and we don't know yet if it'll then hit the east or west coast of the state. We are on the west coast of Florida and preparing to evacuate - just giving it another day to see the forecasts.

But Disney should be ok. It's built to withstand a lot of wind, anyway.

The news just said Fort Myers is at risk.

Gov. Scott issues the National Guard to prep for Irma. The Keys are in the path right now. It is expected to be a category 5.

Hope it hits Mar A Lago, hard. The "summer White House" no more.

No thank you. I don't want any of my tax dollars going to fix that.

It does get tedious. I thought I'd put some useful information from the noaa.gov website here:

"Each year, the United States averages some 10,000 thunderstorms, 5,000 floods, 1,300 tornadoes and 2 Atlantic hurricanes, as well as widespread droughts and wildfires. Weather, water and climate events, cause an average of approximately 650 deaths and $15 billion in damage per year and are responsible for some 90 percent of all presidentially-declared disasters. About one-third of the U.S. economy – some $3 trillion – is sensitive to weather and climate. National Weather Service (NWS) provides weather, hydrologic, and climate forecasts and warnings for the United States, its territories, adjacent waters and ocean areas, for the protection of life and property and the enhancement of the national economy."

Hurricane Irma is going to be devestating. No way around it and this information is not meant to downplay Irma's magnitude whatsoever.

How much did trump want to cut from FEMA while denying man-made climate change?

And a young Dreamer died saving people in Houston - was today really the best day to announce it's end?

Not just FEMA but many other agencies as well, such as EPA which is already spread thin due to being in the midst of a massive personnel reduction and budget cut just as Harvey cut its way right through the midst of America's biggest concentration of heavily toxic petrochemical plants and refineries. Texas just put out a request for 1500 EPA staff to come help with the environmental disaster, when Scott Pruitt just showed hundreds of EPA staff the door.

And NO acknowledgement of this from anyone in the Trump administration. What a disaster indeed.

You think Republicans caused the hurricanes? I thought it was predictable over time through record-keeping?

It became political when the idiots started politicizing science.

Trump had bad timing when he threatened to cut FEMA funding. Mother Nature is giving him the finger.

Actually, these hurricanes seem to have targeted Democratic cities. Seems like God is giving someone the finger all right...

Um, do you realize all the small towns in the region are just as wiped out? Towns you never heard of because they are small, rural trump country towns?

You are an asshole, agreed. You appear to have lost your train of thought after that.
