Looks like the southern half of the state.

So not Orlando?

Disney is not safe from the storm. It looks, like it will go straight up the middle and it is so wide, it will hit everything,

Thank you for this update. Am on the verge of canceling. Plan was to go down Friday and return Sunday.

I would definitely cancel if I were you. Disney is usually really good with situations like this, and I'm sure they'll cancel everything for you, extend ticket experation dates, rebook you, etc. The last thing they want is one more family down there that they'll have to deal with in the middle of a hurricane.

Why do you listen to Rush? I have never listened to him and I have been a lifelong Republican.

I'm the PP you're quoting. I don't listen to him, although I have a few Republican friends who do. I just saw an article about his broadcast from a third party in my news feed, and decided to link straight to the source, which was included in the article.

And, that is not what Limbaugh said. I read the transcript. He outlined the different paths. Florida southern coast is one of them.
His point was that the media has made this a crisis starting about a week ago. Bottled water sold out almost immediately. Yet, everyone has plenty of tap water they could use to fill containers. That was his point. Nothing wrong with preparedness. It’s another thing to watch the general public rush to hoard supplies when they could be preparing things at home.

Have you been in this area when an inch of snow is projected? Milk and toilet paper wiped out instantly.
People overreacting to weather scenarios is not a right-left issue, and has nothing to do with liberal media conspiracy.
HOWEVER, the government and university weather forecasters trying to get people prepared to NOT DIE should the largest Atlantic hurricane in our lifetime hit, seems like a good idea. And anyone downplaying or dismissing those efforts is putting people's lives at risk.

+1. Telling people this is overblown is telling them there is no need to board up their homes, have the recommended supplies on hand (3 days of food, water, extra medicine, etc) and not to worry about evacuation orders. If Irma hits as projected, this puts lives at risk. The idiots who listen to Rush ( which does not really bother me) and the people who have to rescue them (which bothers me a lot). Did you see what happened during Harvey?

And I bet you every dollar I have that Rush is somewhere dry and safe while this plays out. With a generous supply of Oxy.

The military is evacuating all but a handful of super essential personnel. Are they a victim of MSM over reaction too?

It is political due to FEMA money. Illegals without anchors don't get the grants.

Well Florida went for Trump in the election; they deserve to be destroyed by a violent hurricane.

Oh no, you went there. As if we didn't have enough weather disasters already, we now have to prepare for an oncoming snowstorm by a bunch of snowflakes.

Also, large parts of Florida, like Miami, went for Hillary, and could also get destroyed by a hurricane.

Hard to believe trump wants to cut FEMA.

You really believe this is what Rush said and was serious about it? Really? LOL.

This is classic Rush humor - making fun of liberals by saying "I bet corporations made it up to sell more water in bottles". I actually was listening when he said it.

He DID make an excellent point today. Scott called for evacuation, mayor in Miami is holding back. Reason being is some of the models have this storm well off the coast of FL and making real landfall around the SC/GA border. The Nat'l Hurricane Service has Miami in the bullseye, and even if the storm pulls east like the other models predict, NHS will be more likely to hold back a day or so BECAUSE there's already been consequences to what they warned of. He said it's always a fine line with these storms.

Thank you for clarifying this. I wondered if he verved off into discussing HAARP conspiracy theories as some are.

NHC is not holding west because of previous warnings, it is holding a more western track because that is in line with the European model. European model is generally the best / highest resolution pmodel available but it is (a) only run 2x/day and (b) is proprietary so doesn't show on the spaghetti line graphics. But it is the reason the NHC track is holding west.

A good discussion of this (from yesterday) is available here: https://arstechnica.com/science/2017/09/heres-what-the-worlds-most-accurate-weather-model-predicts-for-irma/?amp=1

Who knows. Maybe he has been knocking back the oxy again.

I'm experiencing a weird dissonance as an unexpected belief takes hold: Trump wants people to stop taking the federal government for granted and start taking action to fix and strengthen entrenched bullshit problems.

I know, that's giving him way more credit than he deserves, but you have to admit people are starting to become more aware of exactly what they want and need a federal government for. It's so crazy to have elected officials threatening to shut it down.

I happen to be one of hundreds of students attending Regent University. I sympathize with the lives these hurricanes have impacted already, and I'm sorry that you would wish a similar fate to me and my friends. There are also a lot of worried parents, and I appreciate your sympathy and consideration of them.

Even worse! Why should Rush listen to Big Government trying to protect him from being killed in a Liberal Hoax Storm! He should have defied government orders and stayed put in his house to prove that it's all fake.
