Need Advice: Just found out DD (16 yo) is dating a 25 yo

This is OP. We found the info online from what we've known to be a reliable source. While we are not freaking out yet, we often use the source professionally and it has always been accurate. Still, we are holding out the possibility that the info could be off this time.

Is there anyone at school you can call and quietly inquire, not in a crazy way?

Now I want to know your profession.

Not that we can think of, without coming across as a little weird.

We plan to talk with DD tonight. Hopefully, that will shed some light on some things.

Trying to keep my cool and not overreact.

Talk to dh first, but I do. It think anyone would think it is weird to be concerned that your daughter is dating a 25 year old. I do not know if they can tell you his age, but the school would understand your concerns.

Sorry, I misunderstood your post. I thought you meant reaching out to one of her friends in some way.

I like the idea of inquiring with the school. If we still need answers after tonight's talk, I will probably take your advice. Thank you.

This.

Not over 21 in a base HS. They go to one of the Alternative High Schools.

He's not 25 if he's still in a mainstream high school. He likely lied about his age or got his records mixed with someone else of a similar name.

Or Op is trolling.

Online things are not always accurate. I usually put in my wrong birthday and other information and I see it online on those sites. However, if it were my daughter, I'd get his phone/text and send him a text telling him if he is over 18 to stay away from my daughter and should something come between them, you will be pressing charges for rape. No kid can be 25 and in school. If he is, he's a teacher or student teacher. Or, something very wrong.

The source is not very reliable if it is saying that a high school kid is 25. As a parent I get your concern regarding age. But there is no way that the information is correct.

The school is not going to give any info to a parent calling the school. They are going to think you're nuts. 25 year olds are not in HS.

Are you sure he goes to DD's high school, or does she just say he does?

I would find this far more likely than a 25 year old on campus.
