um ... depends on what they said.

OP here. I won't go into details, but it was pretty nasty. What I'm hung up on, is that I would never talk that way to anybody, especially not in a professional environment.
Maybe my expectations are too high?

???
But you did. You ripped into them enough that they both started "sobbing". At their cubicles.

OP again. I told them I found their behavior rude and catty. Hardly "ripping into them"

OP here and thank-you for this. I think this quote applies:

Here's the thing OP. It doesn't matter who's right and who's wrong. If you make a big production about this, move cubicles etc., you'll be breeding worse treatment in the future. Now they'll have fuel. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

OP, you seem to really like drama. Obviously their behavior wasn't nice, but the fact that you didn't just let it go and talked to them to the point of them crying means that, at least, I would not want to be your friend.

OP, thanks for your perspective. The thing is, they do still want to be my friend. They have both approached me. They know they crossed a line. I think they were feeding off each other that morning, and I was the unlucky target. I told them their comments were rude and catty, which is true. Now, it's up to me if I care to maintain the close relationships we had in the past. For now I'll keep my current cubicle placement and be polite and professional, AS I ALWAYS HAVE BEEN in the past.

You said "I find your behavior rude and catty" and that resulted in 2 grown women sobbing at their cubicles?
Not for one second do I believe you.

Are you sure they were actually making fun of you? This sounds to me like they thought they were laughing with you and you thought they were laughing at you. Mean girls don't ask you to go for a walk later.

There's no crying at the office. Who crys at work openly for others to see? If I was the boss I'd be pissed at all of you.

OP here, not sure what I can say to counter your disbelief. All I can figure is that they knew they crossed a line and felt bad about it. Maybe they felt guilty? IDK.
