| I might notice but not say anything. Never know how it's going to be received. Weight is a very touchy topic. If you feel better, the most important person of all is noticing. |
Thanks, and I'm not really worried about people noticing or not. I was mostly doing it to feel better and be healthier, and I also know that there's some awkwardness around commenting on people's weight, so it's cool that no one has been publicly gushing about my new size. As for how I did it: it's been all My Fitness Pal. I've posted on here about it before, so forgive the repetitiveness, but it's really just calories in and calories out. I've increased my walking and bicycling, and I've decreased my caloric intake. They keys on the calorie side have been less mindless snacking and less eating out. I've cut restaurants out of my life almost entirely (maybe 2x/month now), and I don't miss them at all. I've also filled my fridge with healthy snacks, mostly fruits and vegetables. I've started buying way more fruits and vegetables than I used to--even at the risk that some will go bad--because it means that I never get to a day where all I've got left to eat is packaged junk. I still eat lots of food that tastes great--enchilada casserole last night and toast with PB and honey this morning--but I don't eat excessive amounts of it, and I only eat it when I'm actually hungry. The biggest side benefit to this approach has been that I don't feel heavy and bloated from eating big meals every day. And I didn't even know I felt that way until I changed my diet. |
| For me it was 20 lbs. It was more noticeable, and more comments, at 30. |
| Depends on your height. I'm slightly under five feet and whenever I lose 5 pounds my clothes fit much better. If I lose ten, I definitely get comments. |
| At 5'2" it was around 10 lbs for me. Good friends haven't really said anything but coworkers and my garbage collector have (w/o being jerky about it!) |
Lost 22 and first comment today from a coworker who hadn't seen me for weeks. Felt great
20 more to go to promised land! |
| Not sure but whenever I comment to someone who I don't know well it seems they're already down about 30 |
| 10 pounds. I'm 5'6". |
| If you feel better and your clothes fit fine, what's the point of getting on the scale? |
|
it really depends on your size. if you're 250 lbs and you lose 10, it's not as noticeable as if you go from 110 to 100.
That said, I think for most average weight people it's around 10-15 lbs. |
| Depends on how much you weigh to begin with. When I weighed 130, 5 pounds made a huge difference. Now that I am closer to 150, I think I could lose 5 pounds and barely notice (given I gained 5 pounds and barely noticed). But why worry about the weight. Just go by feeling better. |
| 5'-3" at 125lbs. It's noticeable going down 10lbs and my clothes are too tight going up 5. |
| For me 20lbs. I'm tall and carry the weight well too. |
| The truth is, the more overweight you are, the more you have to lose for people to notice. I weigh 235. My friend weighs 135. If she lost ten pounds everyone would notice. If I lost ten pounds nobody, including me, would notice. |
Me too. |
