Celebrity encounters, anyone surprise you? Disappoint you?

Anonymous
Oliver North.

Super handsome. Very quiet, almost retiring and happy being a background player at a large family event.

Food for thought: if a celebrity you encounter once is mean, I wouldn't automatically say he/she is an ass. Everyone has rough days.

Anthony Keidis and Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers. They are incredibly stupid and short.

Trent Reznor. He was very quiet, short and incredibly hot.

Was in an antique store with Joan Rivers. She was very nice.

First off he is tiny and I didn't expect him to be. Second he is a total ass. Especially to staff. He wouldn't talk to anyone and he might answer with an eye roll or heavy sigh but if he wanted to talk to you you better give full attention and hang on his every word or he'd get pissed and say something bitchy. It was disappointing

I was on an elevator once and a lady got on, I was near the buttons so I asked "What floor?" no answer. So I glanced at her and she was staring at the corner of the elevator but there was no doubt it was Kirstie Alley. I thought she didn't hear me so I said, "going to p2 or can I press a floor for you" and she just shook her head and said "no" and never made eye contact. I was like ... the fuck?

Goldie Hawn once struck up a conversation with me while at a store looking at cookware. It was so normal and genuine, we were both wondering what color le creuset they had in stock that I thought I must be wrong, until I saw Kurt Russell taking a picture with a few other shoppers. I thought that was awesome.

John Waters is a friend of a friend and he is so friendly and nice and unassuming.

I knew Tracey Gold growing up and still keep in touch with her even though we now live in opposite coasts. She kind of gets this reputation as neurotic but she is incredibly warm and funny. She is very kind and always remembers special things about your life. She is a very dedicated mom.

This made me lol

I work in a science lab. I've met Buzz Aldrin (really nice!), Bill Nye (absolute asshole) and Neil Degrasse Tyson (witty and funny).

Sam Donaldson, ten years ago. Yeah, that's some kind of a horrible comb-over. Honestly, I believe he had a strange asymmetrical hairstyle with one very long, nearly shoulder length side moussed and gelled into the swirly hairstyle to hide his completely bald head. Nice enough, I guess, but loved being recognized.

It was SO strange! Like the queen stumbled into the elevator without her button pushing servant and became trapped with the peasants. I looked nice too, just came from a lunch meeting - so it wasn't like I was some snarling weirdo. haha

went to college with Ralph Sampson and Ricks Stokes, both very nice and smarter than they were given credit for

Robin Williams is very reserved and shy in person

Peggy Fox is very genuine

Bea Arthur was very down to earth and hysterically funny

Jimmy Connors was very nice too. His car broke down after a tennis match (this was in the 70's) and my dad fixed it for him. We still have the hubcap he signed as a thank you

I've met Katy Perry a few times. She's a friend of a friend. One time was before she became famous. She's pretty self-absorbed and rude in a sarcastic way. She is very generous to her close friends.

Spike Lee was kind of a douche. Quest love was way cool. Elliot Spitzer was friendly even after telling him I was a reporter. Henry Kissinger was unintelligible. All the big network anchors are total douches except Andrea Mitchell, she was nice.

I met the kid from Kramer versus Kramer at a party when we were both a lot younger. He was arrogant and didn't talk to anyone.

Was crossing the street in NYC before a film premiere and somehow accidentally ended up right next to Reese Witherspoon's open car window. I freaked and was like, hi! and she said hi! and smiled super big. Really cute.

Met John Mayer at a small house party (he was friends with my friend's roommate) in the Body is a Wonderland days. He was weird and awkward.

Know Chelsea Clinton and she is sweet and normal as can be.

Dan Rather is a true gentleman.

In HS my best friend and I were extras in a movie. Her mom was a movie producer and hooked us up. I was in a scene with Tom Arnold and movies take a LONG time to film. He and I were together for a little over an hour. He was so nice and funny and totally talked me and another extra up.

Granted, I was 15, but he was really awesome! His wife, Rosanne, was a total bitch and just shopped in the Polo store in Georgetown and yelled at everyone.

I posted this on another thread several months ago, but I met Robert Downey, Jr. when I was in 5th grade while he was filming the movie Chances Are in Rockville at the Courthouse. He came out of his trailer and talked to me, my sister and my sister's best friend. He was so nice to us and answered all of our questions (and asked his own). Afterwards, he gave my sister a Koosh ball (remember those?) and told her to take good care of it because it was the "greatest toy he ever had". This was in 88, I believe, maybe 87. Anyway, he was gorgeous then and so, so nice.

And completely high, during those years. Good you didn't notice that when you were kids though.

Will.I.Am is a d*ck (met him at a Rock the Vote event).

All the political types I've met (William Carville, Dana Perino, Tim Geithner, Susan Rice, Eleanor Holmes-Norton) were nice (for diplomacy's sake, obviously).

Nina Totenberg, Sam Donaldson, Gwen Ifill, and David Gregory were all personable (again, no surprise).

Amber Tamblyn is sweet.

Leonardo DiCaprio is aloof, but polite. (Met him at an Earth Day event).

Brad and Angie are both gracious, very kind people. (Met them at Bourbon Steak.)

Had a chat with Max Weinberg at Bibiana - he's a very nice guy.
