Downton Abbey (1/28) (spoiler alert!)

I was yelling "no, no" when Lord Merton proposed to Mrs Crawley. She wants Dr Clark and he has to man up and come get from smarmy Lord Merton.

I will go down in flames rooting for Dr Clark and Mrs Crawley

No he's not. He's insulting to his wife, without whose money he would long ago have been fucked. I can't STAND him.

Me too! I love Dr. Clark. They are such a good match.

Whose two children? Her own? (that would be today's Lord Grantham and the Aunt) or did the Prince have two children and her husband was reminding her that she would be breaking up the Prince's marriage?

Did you pick up that the pictures of Violets children were in a Faberge frame? At the time Faberge was the jeweler for the Russian royals who made all the Faberge Easter eggs. Violets husband message was on point: stop screwing around with the Russian nobleman or all you will have left is photos of your children and your Russian lover

I just LOVE the fact that the Dowager has such a scandalous past. Kind of explains why she went out of her way to help Edith. . .could've been her in a former life.

I don't understand why everyone keeps encouraging Tom to bring the schoolteacher to dinner, and why he keeps agreeing. I get that Cora is irritated with Robert and trying to get under his skin, but why does Tom keep it up? And why does Rose keep pushing it?? I don't really think Tom enjoys the battles, he always looks uncomfortable when it starts (and they all know it will!). If he enjoys spending time with her, do it away from Downton. Of course, I'd prefer that he just ditch her entirely.

Lord Gillingham definitely got creepy. He's going to turn all stalker-ish on Mary, which is going to freak her out and send her running the other direction. Meanwhile, Charles Blake waits in the wings ... pretending to NOT be waiting, which will make her want to chase after him.

I find that saucy older women always have a bit of a past
Rose will be scandalising her granddaughters in the 1970s and Lady Mary's granddaughters will be bored by their granny

Bunting gives teachers a bad name! I really dislike her.

Did you notice how Mary unwillingly followed him? It looked like she was planning on him walking away alone then he looked over his shoulder with a pretty menacing look and she came trotting after him.

No, the police would not be investigating the accidental death of a valet. Remember, except for one person that heard him say "what are you going here" everyone thought he was accidently bumped and fell in the street.

The Dowager knows about Edith & the baby, right? You’d think she would be pushing the Lord & Lady to get her married off. Or does Mary still “have” to get married first?

I wonder if Rose is going to try & bring back the black jazz singer since she thinks she has her dad’s permission to marry for love.

I know it was terrible, but I did love when the farmer's wife shut the door on the Lady Edith. As Rodney Dangerfield would say, "I don't get no respect!"

Sorry. Me too. Women had such little power on those days but she knows Edith wants something she has rather than the other way round

Yes, so ludicrous that the police would be staking out Lord Gilliham's house. What in case some random woman shows up, whom they don't know b/c she wasn't interviewed by the police yet and who met the valet once maybe twice?

Also, it's really annoying how Tom can be such a limp fish faced with how nasty and rude Bunting is. Sybil is rolling in her grave.
