"Boring" is what a lot of people crave - as in quiet and beautiful. Not tacky and built up (Rehoboth). |
Lol hilarious! We have a similar routine. Dewey is gross. Fenwick is nice for families - not too boring, not too crowded, and not too expensive. |
NO! Dewey does have a very vibrant night live but also has many things for families and kids to do. Movies on the beach every Monday night & bonfires on the beach Wednesday nights! http://www.deweybusinesspartnership.com/events/kids |

I really dislike Dewey. Sure, you can just go to the beach and mind your own business, but the partying begins really early and I was grossed out by a lot that I saw driving home from dinner etc. And I'm a person who likes Rehoboth, even if its tacky and built up! |
Try Sanibel Island Fl. Upscale, low key, great beaches, restaurants and wonderful boutiques. |
We went to dewey the last week of August (so most kids were back in college) and it was perfect! We had no Idea about the reputation until we got there, but we didn't experience it at all. |
The beach itself is nice. The problem is all of the singles who go there to get wasted and hook up. You literally wouldn't sleep until 2 or 3 am. |
Thank god camera phones didn't exist back when I went to Dewey. Phew. |
we have gone to Dewey twice the last week of August, Sunday to Thursday. We stayed at the Hyatt, used points, and made it very affordable. Dewey was very quiet. we drove to Rehoboth a few times for the rides. the hotel was nice, not very beachy. we are having some money problems now, so may use points again for a few nights next summer. |
We went for two nights last summer, during the week, and it was fine.

Bump - anyone stayed at the Hyatt Place there this summer? It seems like it would be a short drive to Rehobeth, etc. I can stay there for free using points but am leery of doing so based on comments above. Trip Advisor reviews are good though. |
Look around Lewes. Right down the street and I bet much more what you're looking for. |
So what? Just hop in the car and drive up to Lewes, Cape Henlopen, Deauville Beach just north of Rehoboth (bring $10 cash for parking + more for very inexpensive snack bar or umbrellas & chairs), Rehoboth Boardwalk (bring quarters or load Parkmobile app) or drive down to Bethany (not sure about parking but last time I was there they had meters south of the boardwalk that were easy to keep fed) or even Assateague. At least you are already out at the beach, for a great price (free!) |
