PPs are right, the beach is much quieter in the morning because everyone is sleeping, which I consider a positive! Yes there are a ton of 20 somethings walking around but honestly, it's not that bad. And it's a 2 minute ride to Rehoboth, you can take your kid on the trolley to Rehoboth which he will love. It picks up right by the Hyatt Place. If you are like us you are in bed way too early to really be bothered by everyone. All the PPs sound a bit stuck up to me! Go and enjoy!

Thanks! And you were able to sleep ok? With our toddler, we're usually in bed by 9.

Yeah we slept fine! The rooms are big too so we had him on one side of the room and us on the other. You could kinda hear some outside noise but it wasn't bad. You could bring a sound machine if he's a light sleeper. I say go for it! Yes you will see a lot of people walking around tipsy in the late afternoon/evening but they didn't bother us at all and like I said you could easily just take the trolley to Rehoboth to walk around on the boardwalk and then go to beach at Dewey. I hope you go! It's so hard to get away with toddlers but we had a good time when we went. We also used our Hyatt points to stay.

We go to Fenwick. There's no high rise buildings so it's not crowded at all. 95% of the people there are families, everything is walking distance, it's awesome!

The worse beach experience in my life. No boardwalk, college kids everywhere, beer cans on the dunes, extremely high priced, I felt like it was Vegas in Delaware. Don’t go.

We went to Dewey in early September when my kids were still in preschool. It was still good beach weather and the party crowd was not around, it was perfect. But that schedule can’t work for us anymore. But yeah, that’s when I would be fine taking little ones to Dewey.

My kids love driving through Dewey on the way from Bethany (where we stay) to rehoboth (where we go to the boards for rides and games)....we roll the windows down and they enjoy watching the drunks on the sidewalks and in the street as they stumble from bar to bar.

It's not for kids of for grown-ups.

You don’t have as many of the group houses anymore as it’s gotten expensive. Many homes have been bought and are no longer renting. They also have some new great restaurants Dewey Post, Woody’s (best crab cakes in the world), Starboard Claw, Starboard Raw, Fifer market, Dewey Beer company, Nalu. For quieter beaches stay at the north or south end of town. Best part is you never have to get in a car. You can take the Jolley Trolley to Rehoboth. Rent a boat or pontoon to get out on the bay. Rent bikes and ride through rehoboth to Gordon’s Pond. They also have a lot of great live music at the restaurants and bars. The key is to avoid the times/shows with the college kids. Ie if everyone is at Jam session go to the Lighthouse or Rudder where they will also have live music w/o the crazy crowds and older clientele.

This. I remember going some time back and this was our experience.

It's fine during the week, but on the weekend it will be FILLED with drunk, loud 20-40 something professionals who get share houses and go there to get wasted and hook up. I would not bring a toddler to dewey on the weekend if you want them to get any sleep.
Why not just go to Ocean City?

Out of all the beach why are you picking Dewey Beach? I don't get it.

It's not the ocean.

lol DJ James Kennedy from Vanderpump Rules was playing in Dewey over MDW in the middle of the day on Sunday. Total sh#tshow of traffic if you were trying to get between Rehoboth and Bethany. I was shocked at the sheer number of drunk people stumbling off the sidewalk into traffic and crossing the road. The entire town is gridlocked on the weekends due to pedestrians crossing the road. It’s not a small town anymore, they need some proper street lights with walk/do not walk signals.
