Am I the Only One Who Thinks Stitch Fix Sucks?

I had a similar experience with ModCloth. Lots of people recommended it, but the quality was poor.

I haven't used eShakti, but a friend of mine really likes them.

There was a controversy with Stichfix with people getting clothing with a (much cheaper) price tag attached:

This is the OP. I have had two boxes delivered and both were complete garbage clothes. Thin fabrics, weird cuts, all stuff made in china and so flimsy. I really truly think I have found better items at Target for literally half the price. I've received the following brands: Hawthorne, Tulle, 19 Copper, Loveappella, Collective Concepts. Some of these items are $70-$90. And they are rayon, etc. And I am 38 yrs old, 5'9" and a size 8-10, and they are sending me dresses that are above the knee in these high waisted cuts that are almost baby doll. I just can't believe so many people like this stuff.

Markups are expected and necessary to make money. The quality is an issue with so many retailers. It's ridiculous.

I did it for 5 months and just canceled.

It was convenient to get the box and fun to see what was inside, but I was always disappointment with the quality and the price of the clothing. I mean, why pay $40 for a necklace that I can get at Laila Rowe for $24 (not on sale). Or why pay $64 for a shirt when I can get a similar shirt on sale at Nordstrom for $24. Why pay $148 for a pair of no-name stretch jeans when I can find a "luxury" brand for the same price retail. It just doesn't make sense....

I don't often have time to bargain hunt, but the kicker for me was when I found a $300 design dress on sale for $32 at the mall, and the same day got a poorly-made no-name dress that fit oddly for $80 from Stitch Fix......

My experience with stitch fix is that they didn't read my profile at all. I specifically said no boho stuff or weird trendy patterns. Lo and behold, a chevron print dress (cute, but way too short on me) and some pseudo-boho tunic. Really? Did they not even read? Or just sent me whatever they had in stock in my size and could pull.

I also have found the sizing to be all wrong. I am a traditional size 8. 5'7. 135-140 lbs. and the mediums have been so darn tight, it made me feel like crap!

I liked the idea and the general style. I tried it for 5-6 months but only ended up keeping three things. The stuff fit funny and was cheaply made for the price. What it did do was inspire me to go and buy really similar items for 1/4 the price at Forever 21. They sell grown up clothes there now (and they're inexpensive)!

Me too. I wanted to love their stuff so much!

I think their stuff is completely overpriced and of poor quality. I am also quite confused by those folks who claim to love it. I just don't get it. The clothing feels like stuff you could get at Forever 21 or Wet Seal.

I got one box and I liked it! I was surprised at how well the pieces fit since I feel like I'm an odd shape. I am terrible at shopping/fashion so this really is made for people like me who wouldn't know how to find higher end stuff. I hope the next box is as good. I've also heard mixed reviews so my fingers are crossed!

I did it for maybe 4 months and did keep several things, some of which I still wear. It helped me get out of a rut after several years of maternity clothes and well-I'm-still-fat-because-I-had-a-baby clothes. But eventually I cancelled because I didn't think the quality was that great. I don't begrudge them marking stuff up though, otherwise how would the business be viable?

I assume stitch fix manufactura all the clothes and then assigns them different brands. I have never seen a brand I recognized and this is how they can keep their margins high

It was crap

My friend does stitch fix and shows me all her boxes. I've never heard of any of the brands she's gotten. They've also sent her the exact same shirt but in a different fabric pattern twice. She likes it and has kept some stuff and it's helped her refresh her wardrobe, but I agree that if you have time you could prob find similar clothes for cheaper at Nordstrom rack etc. Personally, I'd rather just use a personal shopper at Nordstrom and put more money into a quality visit 1-2 times per year than to piecemeal accumulate stuff through stitch fix.

Also to answer a pp's question, I have one top from eshakti and I hate it.
