Don't you people get tired of trying to put down other schools/neighborhoods? You sound like ignorant assholes. Every.single.time you post the same old nonsense. There are a variety of nice neighborhoods with different amenities (parks, trails, metro, restaurants, large lots, etc) and price points. Everyone has different interests/priorities. There is no one "best" location for everyone. And same goes for schools. You really just sound ignorant when you say that some are terrible because they clearly are not. All we learn from your posts is that you are a dope.

We are renting but I have to mention, now that I'm living here…if I were to buy, if not here, I'd look at Westover area. That little block has EVERYTHING so you can walk and get everything. Doesn't look like it at first but it's true. Library, restaurants, dry cleaners, bank, Rite-Aid, grocery, beer garden(!), 7-11, manicure place. The hardware store has all sorts of things.
The only thing it doesn't have is a gas station and if you need gas, you're in your car anyways so that doesn't matter.

7-11 is going away and it will be replaced by Italian Store. Even better!!!

We recently bought in Arlington and our agent said that some people don't like Bluemont because it feeds into Kenmore for middle school. Our kids aren't in APS yet (too young) so I have no idea why people feel that way or if it is valid. We ended up near Westover but I would have been okay with Bluemont too. I think W-L and Yorktown are on par with each other. One of our neighbors (in Yorktown district) sends her daughter to W-L because they apparently have some sort of specialized international studies program.

Bluemont north of Wilson (ie Lacey Park area) is different than Bluemont South of Wilson (i.e. BonAir).

It's all called Bluemont and both areas are part of Bluemont Association but they sort of feel like two different places and feed into different schools (McKinley and Swanson are the schools for north of Wilson)

Not really. Lyon Village? That's too close to Clarendon for most people's tastes. The most desirable neighborhoods in Arlington are north of Lee Highway.

Right. That's why you can't get into Lyon Village for $1 million, and $1 million will buy you the best house in Bluemont.

Bluemont is a great neighborhood. I've lived here for 15 years - before kids and now with two kids in APS elementary. Love the neighborhood, the location (close to everything - Metro, bike trails, parks, playgrounds, Bon Air rose garden is awesome and has lots of walks in nature and throwing of rocks in 4 mile run).

Ignore the haters. Lots of families in this area. Yes, south of Wilson I'm seeing more teardowns; it can be a little eclectic. But what I see is that people are moving into the neighborhood, investing in the neighborhood and improving the overall look and feel. On my block alone, every single house has done a renovation. I've had people say it's one of their favorite streets to walk down because of the interesting changes done to the houses.

I love that I can walk to a bike trail/park/playground/grocery in 5-10 minutes and never have to get in my car.

It doesn't have the excitement of Lyon Village or the suburb feel of CC Hills, but I don't want or need that. I love the neighborhood as it is and appreciate it for what it is. Family and neighbor friendly, close to everything.

Yorktown is the superior school, Washington and Lee is rated low.

its amazing to me any of these locations have shitty schools? With the cost to buy here, you would think it would be all high SES families by now. How can the schools still be so lacking? But I have the same question about DC too.

I think I know the street - it does have a nice vibe to it. I agree - a great family neighborhood.
