Carol! She'd be the only Carol her age. |
Lots of women going by Caro in France. Though there it's for caroline. |
Well I know two mothers who think it is, so ...... |
Listen, you'll name her Carolyn and end up calling her Cici or Lulu or Koala or something else adorable. We have a Nathaniel who is regularly called "potato" - it went from Nathaniel to Nate to Nate-o to potato. Our Jack is "bean" - Jack went to Jack-o went to Jack-o-bean went to bean. Kids are rarely called by their proper names, at least around here. You can never predict what someone will be called. Carolyn is lovely and I'm sure whatever you call her will be adorable! |
my grandmother is carolyn too and i don't think she ever had a nickname. she accidentally signed up on facebook as Caro, though. clearly, facebook isn't intended for the almost-80 set. |
I'm Carolyn and my nickname's Caro. |
Carol
Lynn |
Carnie...bwahahahaha |
Uh, yes it is? Substituting consonants is really common in nicknames with English origins. Nobody has said Cece yet, which I've heard before. Here's an old DCUM thread on nicknames for Caroline: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/354699.page |
I'm a Carolyn and have never used a nickname. My Mom would sometimes call me by a silly name, but no one else. I love my name and don't hear it used much for younger kids. |
Carebear. |
I like Callie or CiCi, but I agree with this PP...I didn't really believe the thing about "fit" until our DD was born. She was supposed to be "Caroline" after my favorite aunt. My Auntie Caroline was blue eyed and (dyed) flaming red hair. My DD was every dark; black hair, Asian-looking. In our eyes, the name Caroline did not work! We ended up with another name. My other DD is Sophia. I thought we'd do "Sophie." However; my little non-Caroline DD nicknamed her big sister "Fia." I never thought of that nn. Meanwhile, somehow my non-Caroline DD has gone by "Tahls" and now the kids call her "Nutella." ha can you guess her real name? |
I love Carolyn. If you want to use a nickname, I would go with Callie or Cara. Carrie is the most obvious nn, but I knew SO many Carries growing up (full names were Carolyn, Caroline or Carianne). So, Carrie sounds dated to me, as does Carol. |
Caro, Coco |
My name is carolyn and I like Carnie as a nickname |
