Preppy Boys Names? or Names that mean something in another language?

Preppy names are usually family names, or lineage names like xx xx III, or last names as first names (again family names not made up names). Nicknames like Trey/Trip or chip or chad are another option (often required because the family or lineage names can be confusing with multiple people with the same name, or cumbersome if its a multisyllabic last name as first name) . Of course it would be extremely unpreppy to have a nickname as a given name.

All of these names strike me as names that someone thought once sounded preppy. Except now they're in the trailer park. Really, Cody?

All of these? Really? Have you ever met a trailer park kid named Bradford?

Furthermore, have any of you actually ever met anyone who grew up in a trailer!? That's what I want to know.

Yes. I lived in a trailer as a kid.

All the really preppy people I knew were named Charles and called Chaz or named Herbert something something the third and called Trey or Chip. If you try to give your kid a preppy name it is, almost by definition, not preppy.

Names for a Silas sibling:
Peter
Caleb
Gabriel
Oliver
Ethan
Seth
Ian
Angus
Gideon

Yep, many. My family is pretty blue collar.

Yes! (07:00 here). Which is why 95% of the names here are pretty far from prep. And as PP said, if you are trying to give your child a preppy name, it is by definition not preppy.

I am a dyed in the wool preppie here, and PP above nailed it.

OP, just give your child a "resume" name. Then you'll be closer to your goal.

Most of the names on the first page make me picture a guy who knocked up a McKayla, a Kylie and a Taylor before he turned 21.

Thanks. I wear my Lilly proudly.

As previous poster said preppy names are typically family names. The nickname is what really preppifies it. If you don't have a family name here are some possible preppy given names: William, Jack (John), Thomas (Tad), Charles. Kings of England can be a good place to start.

Interesting.............I don't think that preppy always equals "old money WASP"- they converge but aren't the same. I think a lot of the 80s coming of age movies use the most preppy names if looking for inspiration, a lot on here are the awful teen-mom trendy names though!

Biff
Jock
Skipper
Scooter
Van
And with a tip of the hat to "Sex in the City"---Trey

Trey is the ultimate preppy name because it's the standard nickname for someone who's a third. It loses all preppiness if it's a given name.

Wrong... It's Trip.
