OP here, I am skinny but I have zero tone and I am trying to feel better about myself. I run a lot but my cellulite is still here... |
Start lifting and you will see a huge difference! |
Not the PP, but how long did you lift before you saw a difference? |
Running is great for cardio, but if you want muscle tone you need more. You have to do strength training and actually build up muscle. Your weight will go up, but muscle weighs more than fat. Your size will probably go down though, and your metabolism will increase. |

Interesting. Running makes the cellulite on my ass disappear. I start to see results by 3 weeks. If I don't run, like this year between the Army 10 miler and Christmas my ass looks like I've sat on a bag of nickles.
I also do a lot of hills, I seek them out. That tones the hell out of my butt and hamstrings. Some days it makes my ass so sore, it hurts to stand up. |
So ordinary women should try to look like an international superstar whose job it is to look good, or an early twenties SI cover model? Both of them have jobs that practically require them to strut around 75% nude. Both have full time personal trainers. Please. And Adele is gorgeous IMO.

| I will also recommend Pilates. Long time runner here (5'4" & 105). I started doing Pilates when I had a running injury and it totally transformed my body. I look so much better now than when I was marathon ready & running 3X as much. |
I wasn't taking issue with the OP. I was taking issue with the term. If the person is thin, she is not fat. She may be weak, scrawny, untoned, etc. But she isn't fat. It seems to me that the only way "fat" makes any sense there is if it is being used synonymously with "ugly" or "unattractive." Fat may BE unattractive, but it isn't the only way to be unattractive. |
Really? How many time a week and a long is a session? Do you do it at home or at the gym? Thanks!! |

"Skinny fat" is a term regularly used in the clothing industry, actually. There are tons of women who can fit into a size 24 but are so untoned that they need the jeans to lift their bottoms and the right shirt to hide their tummy or love handles.
I used to do tons of cardio and stayed at my 5'4", 115-120 area for a while. I started doing Vinyasa Yoga twice a week and saw a huge difference after a month. I also felt stronger and more toned. Add that to some cardio and weights with many reps/low weight and it will help tone. Yoga is great for your core, too. |
WE actually you can be skinny and fat. It is most dangerous because these people often carry the most dangerous types of fat-visceral fat. You can often tell if you have visceral fat if you are carrying it in your mid section-but are "skinny" everywhere else. |
Oh boy! That's me. Skinny top, huge thighs and behind... When I lose weight it's only "upstairs"... |
Well that is actually good. Your organs are not suffocating with fat. You just have a some badonkadonk and that is not such a bad thing! |
| Yeah, it's actually much better to carry the extra fat in your thighs/rear than around your midsection. Pear shape is healthier than apple. |
