I am 5"4 and 117lbs but I look horrible naked.
Way too much cellulite, tiny chest... What can I do to get fit and look better. |
| Weights. Have you read "New Rules of Lifting For Women" or "New Rules of Abs". Love them. Totally changes your body and makes you strong. |

I will check the library. I do a lot of cardio but no weights so that something I should consider.
Do You recommend joining a gym or the books will be enough to start? Thank you. |
You do not have to join a gym to use New Rules. But it helps. I do. Definitely check out one or both books from the library and then see what works for you. |

| I'm confused by your subject. You use the term "skinny fat" to say that you are thin, but do not look good naked. This implies that "fat" is synonymous with not looking good, as if there is no other way to not look good. Somehow this realyl rubs me the wrong way, and is indicative of how our culture has become so obsessed with fatness, when there are a multitude of other ways inw hich a person can by physically unappealing.... |

Skinny fat is not healthy. Despite having a regular weight, skinny fat people are at higher risk for the health effects associated with being overweight. So how do people get skinny fat? A large number of people get who lose weight in unhealthy ways through VLCD diets, starvation mode, or quick fix dieting. When we lose weight, a certain percentage of our loss is muscle, while the rest is fat. The most desirable type of weight loss is that which the loss of muscle is low and the loss of fat is high. People who diet unhealthily tend to lose a much higher percentage of muscle and a lower percentage of fat than those who diet healthily. So unhealthy dieters see the scale going down, and think that they are winning the battle, when in reality, what they are seeing is largely due to a loss in muscle. When they reach an average weight, they have a less than average amount of muscle, and a higher amount of body fat, leaving them as skinny fat. |

Fat is not attractive, I think there is nothing confusing about that. To the OP: there is NO need for a gym. I'm a runner and slim, but compliment my fitness routine with a nightly 45 minute circuit doing abs, shoulders, and legs. I use free weights, none heavier than 25lbs and also body resistance. DAILY I do the abs, but rotate upper and lower body every other night. This has kept nice muscle definition, kept my butt high, and the cellulite at a minimum. Nothing can be done for your boobs, unless you go for an augmentation, but I'm sure you knew that already. |
