How many pizzas to order for a birthday party with 15 kids and whatever parents tag along?

No, we probably just have school-aged kids. After kids turn 4 or so, you're really not inviting their parents to the party.

Do this and become known as the really cheap mom. I think you should order between 8-10 pizzas. You always want your guests to feel like there is more than enough to eat.

I don't care if you think I'm a really cheap mom. My kid isn't friends with YOU, he's friends with YOUR KID, so that's who we invited and that's who we'll plan to feed. The birthday party for my child is not about the adults.

10.

There's no way that it's OK to invite people to your house and pick and choose who to feed. I mean, seriously, it's bordering on insane to think that way.

OP said s/he was having some parents there. So if you know they will be there, you feed them. Basic hospitality.

"Whatever parents tag along" doesn't sound like they're expected to stay--more like a couple may hang around rather than drive home and back.

This. I'm no miss manners and I'll never be waiting by the mailbox for your handwritten thank you note, but I would never, ever, ever have someone in my home or at an event I am hosting, and not offer them the same food being offered to others attending the event.

OP here.thanks for the feedback. The kids are six, so parents may or may not stay. I think I'll do a combo of pizza and more grown-up finger sandwiches, because I know at least two kids don't like pizza. There will be a variety for everyone to choose from. And fruit kebabs. Hope that's good enough for a mid afternoon party.

OMG this is ridiculous. If someone is attending an event that you are hosting then plan on feeding them the same thing that others there are eating!

I am sure your parties are a blast lady.

Sounds like a good plan. Have fun!

That's a tough age because you don't know how many parents will stay. You could plan for maybe 10 parents and if more show up, add a couple pizzas to your order last minute.

Can you give them some idea if you WANT them to drop-off or stick around. As a parent of a 5 year old, some parties are drop off and some are not and I like it when the host makes it transparent. That way you'll have a better idea of who is staying and how many pizzas you need. And YES you should feed the parents. How odd for those who wouldn't.

Guess you got hit with the AMT tax and are feeling the pinch. Good luck to you and hope you aren't last in line at the soup kitchen.
