| If you're from Winston-Salem, what about Winston? (?) |
Isn't Salem a cigarette too? That's what I think of. |
| I like it for either a boy or a girl, but it would be sort of like naming your kid Damien. They'd start out with a dark connotation, although there's no reason they wouldn't grow into the name and turn it into something that matches their personality. |
I think that one is named after NC. I named my kids Newport and Virginia Slims 100's. |
| Fwiw, it's a common name in Arabic ... for a boy. |
Eh, put it on your short list. If nothing else it'll make your brother feel good. It's not like you're locked into using it just by pondering it. But my immediate thought is "witch trials."
Lots of names have come on and dropped off my short list, and I still have a few more months to go so I'm sure that'll happen some more. |
| Too many negative historical connotations. Women being burned at the stake and all that stuff. Avoid. |
| Yes, you are a little bit crazy. |
So we agree? |
|
CIGARETTES!
SALEM brand cigarettes. Who would name a child after a cigarette brand? Forget it! (sorry) |
| I like it! I don't think you are crazy at all. |
OH yes, totally! |
|
my cousin just named her little girl Salem. i actually like it the most of all her kids names, not that that is saying much.....
i think its pretty, although i would never name my kid that. i don't think cigarettes or witches. |
| I never comment on these name posts but I wanted to say that I love this name. Every name has some sort of association with it, and I didn't think of either Salem Witch Trials or Winston-Salem. |
| It made me think of witches and cigarettes, and yet I find the name really appealing anyway. Go figure! |
