It is literally a 10-minute ride down the GW Parkway. She said her DH is always in search of a great deli, so if she wants to treat him to lunch from a great deli on Father's Day, it's a good option. |
Sadly for that person, one doesn't get to control who comes to a neighborhood park. |
Don't you have parks in MD? We don't cross the river to go to yours. |
It is sad, since it's a Fairfax County park. They should charge for all the non-FFX residents that clog it up. |
As opposed to figuratively? Lost Dog Cafe is a good deli. If she wants to try The Italian Store (which is actually overrated), she can go for it. It will be longer than 10 minutes, but what do I care? |

OMG maybe their child is in a wheelchair and this park was created just for handicapped children. I think its ok for MD people to use this park. Welcome, OP!
Aren't we all just glad that the family donated their land for a park instead of selling it and building another McLean mansion on it? |
+1 |
I'm relatively shocked at the "stay out of our park" reaction! We do have people 'cross the river' to get to Cabin John Wheaton Regional Parks, Brookside gardens not to mention the Rock Creek parkway. And I always welome them and offer helpful suggestions when they ask for lunch recommendations. |
Folks, CJ is not a neighborhood park. It is a destination park. The Dolley Madison tot lot is a neighborhood park. Lacey Woods is a neighborhood park, Cherry Hill is a neighborhood park. CJ, like Frying Pan and Burke Lake, are large parks that people come from all over to enjoy. What world are you weirdos living in? |
Judging by your bitchy attitude, you clearly don't -- so why did you bother to post? Sounds like mommy did get her nap OR her vodka today! |
Didn't, rather... she clearly didn't!
|
I think the PP was kidding. There was a thread a few weeks ago about DC residents overruning some Bethesda pool - I'm guessing (s)he was alluding to that with the crossing the river comment. |

OP, I would get up and go early in the a.m. before it gets too hot and crowded. Then go for a late lunch at the Italian Store before you head home (Jason's Deli is good, too).
FWIW, I know a few families with SN children who can't go to Clemyjontri b/c it gets too crowded and their dc either get overwhelmed (child with autism and sensory issues) or don't have enough space to navigate the play equipment, etc. I guess its a victim of its own awesomeness, but it is too bad that some SN children can't enjoy it. |
This. I laughed out loud at the inference that Clemyjontri is a "neighborhood park"!! |
How many times has CJ had to plead and raise additional funds due to worn out equipment because it is has been studied to be over run and used beyond the planned usage capacity?? How often do you see at least 1/4-1/2 of the parking lot completely FULL of out of county residents? Do the math and you can figure out what is going on here. Here is an excerpt on the problem "Use of the park has exceeded all expectations with nearly 200,000 children and adults visiting Clemyjontri each year. The resulting wear and tear on the park and its unique play equipment and surfacing material require continuing and expensive maintenance and repairs." http://fairfaxparkfoundation.org/projects/clemyjontri.htm To curb this abuse of our resources we should add a fee like Burke lake park (see below) Entrance Fees: There is no charge for Fairfax County residents. Charge for non-county residents on weekends and holidays only (no charge on weekdays), April through late October: Car/Motorcycle: $10.00 Large Capacity Van: $10.00 Bus: $40.00 |
