No. 90% is what you eat not what you do.

Eat meals with lein protein (fish, chicken...), plus big volume but low density (hint: veges) - you will never be starving. Cut out the white past/rice but save 250 calories/day for treats (that would be 2 small cookies).

3-4 times HIIT/week.

You should be fine.

where's my wine in that equation????????????

LOL forget about the cookies, use that for 1 glass of wine/day.

Only eat your chocolate/cookies immediately after your HIIT.

How thin? I'm thin at 40, but for me, thin means that I'm size 6, 5'8" and roughly 140. (i'm very muscular.) I do work out daily, but I don't have to deprive myself of food or wine. If I cut back on sweets and snacks, I weigh less than when I'm relaxed about it.

My body type won't go below size 6 easily and won't go below 4 at all, even when marathoning and eating religiously, so I've never bothered trying to get thinner.

Sister, I have run 7 marathons and I run at least 5-6 miles a day. After 42 years my body is used to covering that much distance. LOL! Maybe this is why I haven't totally gone off the rails with our social binge drinking on the weekends.

OP asked a question. I answered it. What is wrong with you?

I'm 41 and have a baby and preschooler. I'm at approximately my high school weight, which is pretty thin. (I was only ever about 10 lbs above, well, except when pregnant.) I'm still nursing, so that might be keeping my weight down.

I eat a lot of fat, mostly saturated fat in the form of dairy and meat, and very little sugar or white flour. My only liquid calories are from booze - I enjoy some bourbon most evenings. For a sweet treat, I have a small square of very dark chocolate. Also will eat a cookie or whatever if offered, but dark chocolate is my only regular indulgence. Life is good.

For those who say I'm going to die of a heart attack from eating fat, please note that the link between coronary heard disease and dietary fat was never good science and has been pretty thoroughly debunked. Animal fats are a very important traditional source of nutrition.

No shift towards unstoppable weight gain yet - my fingers are crossed that I'll be one of the lucky ones!

Wow, you are an exception - your body is too efficient lol Still, you probably do not need to watch what you eat too closely with those miles.

How much drinking is binge drinking? lol

This sounds like a low carb diet. Refined carbs are the worst.

Then count your blessings...

I just turned 37 and literally eat between 1,200 - 1,500 calories 5 days a week. I don't exercise as much as I'd like, but I can't lose weight to save my life. And yes, I really am eating just that amount of calories (unless the Diet-To-Go meals are lying...).

Yes, I do go towards the low-carb end of things. But I think its weird that all our contemporary ideas about diet seem to be focused on what NOT to eat. I'm into a style of eating that seems to be gaining some popularity from the cookbook Nourishing Traditions:

And Weston Price:

Cut out refined carbs like fructose corn syrup and reduce other sugars.

You'll be able to keep trim.
