| When I am lost in thought I evidently have a facial expression that -everyone- says loOks like I'm glaring. So I'm thinking about chicken or occupy wall street but I appear to be intentionally giving you a dirty look. |

I'm awful at returning phone calls or calling friends. I prefer email or texting. And when life gets too busy for emails or texting I fall off the planet for a while. It has offended many a friend. I try to explain I'm bad with the phone but I know it still bugs them. The phone convo is too much work and I rarely feel like talking to people even when they are my friends. Phone conversations with people I actually dislike are borderline anxiety provoking (I'm dreading the call to the in-laws on Christmas day already). Even weirder is that the only place I don't mind using the phone is at work because it's all business. Basically the only People I talk to on the phone are my parents and husband. Otherwise you go to voice mail and may never get a call back/Follow up contact from me, and I may not actually even listen to the voice mail until weeks later.

| I am also an interrupter. I hate it. I hear myself do it and cringe inside. I've gotten better over the years, but it still happens too much. |

| Interrupter #3 here. Totally unintentional. Like stuttering. |
Not the PP but my DH does this as do one of my kids. They have poor impulse control (as well as ADHD) and they're mouths go much faster than their conscious brains. It's incredibly annoying. They can also lose awareness of how loud their voices are. It's especially embarrasing in public places. DH and I have agreed upon a sign so that I can signal him when his voice gets too loud. |
+1 as well. I never liked talking on the phone except for a brief shining (or not) moment in high school. Much prefer email and LOVE texting. Brevity and getting to the point is my thing. If we're gonna have a big conversation I want to do it face to face. I also "fall off the planet" and have hurt people unintentionally; I usually send a caring/affectionate msg when I know it's been too long. But still, it bothers some friends when I don't return calls. |
Interrupter #4. Completely agree. |
Could have written this exact post. Am an introvert and just don't want to talk on the phone. If I must, I try to get off as quickly as possible. |
I always have an answer for everything, and my way is always right. I don't mean to constantly correct others for what I perceive as bad behavior. I just know that my way is correct and I want to help people to be the best they can be (like me).
|
See, in these situations it's easy to correct yourself; just don't say a thing. Just conscientiously keep your mouth SHUT. |
I know. I am not like this at all; I am just making fun of that poster who keeps chiming in to tell everyone that they are intentionally being rude when they don't notice others, are crabby in the morning, etc. I am sure they think they are "trying" to be helpful, but I definitely perceive that poster as being rude. |
| I often end work phone calls with "You're Welcome" even the when the caller didn't say "Thank you." It's so rude of me, but it is an unintentional bad habit. |
| I start speaking before the person finishes the last few words of their sentence. |
| I hate talking on the phone too! Glad I am not the only one. |
